Jack Nehring, age 85, passed away on Friday, October 24, 2014, at Boland Hall, Veterans Home, Union Grove. Jack was born in Racine on August 2, 1929, son of the late Clarence and Lillian (Nee:Deinken) Nehring and had been a lifelong resident.
Jack graduated from Wm. Horlick High School “Class of 1947.” He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War, earning a Korean Service Medal with four bronze stars and a United Nations Service Medal. On November 25, 1950, at St. Joseph’s Friary, he was united in marriage to Lucille R. Langenfeld.
Jack had been employed by Racine Telecable and retired as vice-president in 1992. He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, a former member of the Optimist Club and was one of the founding members of Racine Crime Stoppers. Jack was an avid golfer and enjoyed his weekly poker game with his friends. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed.
Surviving are his wife, Lucille; seven children, Freedom Free of NC, David (Sharon) Nehring of Racine, Jeffrey Nehring of Racine, Deborah Nehring of TX, Cheryl (David) Brown of NC, Scott Nehring of VT, Carolyn (Allen) Alvin-Nehring of PA; 12 grandchildren; a brother, Gerald (Eva) Nehring of CA; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Rita (Mac) Gilley, Larry (Geraldine) Langenfeld, George Langenfeld; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
Private services and interment will be held at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Town of Dover.
