Idabelle Rouse Reider, age 96, passed away on Friday, November 21, 2014, at Wheaton Franciscan Hospice. She was born in Janesville, WI, on January 27, 1918, daughter of the late Joseph and IdaMae (Nee: VanVranken) Raught.
On April 18, 1942, she was united in marriage to Elmer J. Rouse and together they raised two daughters, Barbara and Kathryn, and a foster daughter, Anita. Elmer preceded her in death on December 29, 1973. On November 23, 1975, Idabelle was married to Fredrick W. Reider.
She was a charter member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. She enjoyed working as a bookkeeper for the Rouse’s Sinclair Station and for Dr. William Buckley’s Orthodontist Office for 17 years, retiring in 1983. Idabelle enjoyed riding horses, knitting, crocheting, baking and cooking. It was time spent with her family she treasured the most. She will be dearly missed.
Surviving are her husband, Fredrick; daughter, Kathryn Rouse (Don Riegelman) of Racine; granddaughter, Robin Petersen; great-grandson, Brandon Johnson; foster daughter, Anita Oakes and family of Racine; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
In addition to her parents and first husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Petersen; grandson, Jon Petersen; a loving brother and four loving sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 29, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6400 Spring St., with Rev. William Dietzler officiating. Private entombment will follow at Calvary Crypts. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Saturday at the church, from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass. Memorials to the Health Care Network or St. Paul the Apostle Church have been suggested.
