Oliver was employed with Racine Unified for many years and for eighteen years by the VA Medical Center in North Chicago, IL. He was a member of St. Richard Catholic Church and loved singing in their choir. He also enjoyed singing with the Racine Chorale and Carthage Community Chorus. Oliver was an avid reader and loved history. His greatest joy came from being with his family, especially the time spent with his two great-granddaughters, Lina and Zoey. He will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his children, Thomas (Debra) Williams of Oak Creek, Nancy Cook of Thomaston, GA; his grandson, Robert “Bob” (Edy) Williams and their children, Lina and Zoey, all of Oak Creek; nieces and nephew, Cheryl (Wayne) Barney, Terry (Linda) Conklin, and Lorraine (Bill) Dudley; dear friends, Howard (Faith) Wirtz; other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara (Robert) Conklin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 7, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Richard Catholic Church, 1503 Grand Ave., with Rev. Ronald Gramza officiating. Entombment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Thursday at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of Mass at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Cancer Society have been suggested.
