Lee E. Deschler

Lee E. Deschler, age 92, passed away Christmas day with his daughter by his side, Thursday, December 25, 2014, at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center. Lee was born in Racine, May 20, 1922, son of the late Peter and Mary (Nee: Jacobson) Deschler.

In his younger years he was a competitive ski jumper with the Racine Ski Club. During World War II Lee proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. On September 30, 1950, he was united in marriage to Betty J. Warner, who preceded him in death on December 7, 2008. Lee retired from Berg’s Texico on High Street after many years of service and owned and operated his own upholstery business. He was an avid golfer, playing golf up to the age of 92 having two holes in one. Lee enjoyed meeting his golf buddies for breakfast and loved all animals. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Survivors include his children, Keith (Laura) Deschler of Racine, Denise M. Miller of Racine; nieces, nephews, beloved cat, Sandy; other relatives and many dear friends.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Steve Miller; brothers, Jerome (Sylvia) Deschler, Harvey (Rita) Deschler; and sister, Evelyn (Harold) Johnson.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 30, 2014, at 6 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. John Fleming officiating. Interment with Full Military Honors will be held at the Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Town of Dover. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Tuesday at the funeral home from 4 o.m. until time of service at 6 p.m. Memorials to one’s favorite charity have been suggested.

The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the caregivers at Ridgewood Care Center, Dr. James Taylor and staff, Heartland Hospice, and to the ICU staff at Wheaton Franciscan for their loving and compassionate care.
