Joyce Marie Labre

Joyce Marie (nee: Belanger) Labre, 72, passed away with her family at her side on Sunday, January 31, 2010, at her residence. She was born on August 9, 1937, in Escanaba, MI, the daughter of George and Agnes (nee: Beauchamp) Belanger. Joyce attended Escanaba High School and then earned her nursing degree on November 20, 1957. Joyce was an LPN in Michigan and then the Milwaukee area, where she met her husband, William J. Labre. They were married on November 14, 1959, in Escanaba, MI. Joyce was an active member of St. Mary by the Lake Catholic Church. She also liked to read, cook and travel. Most of all, Joyce enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Joyce is survived by her daughters, Deborah (Hank) Nelson of Cottage Grove, MN, and Celeste McKloskey of Racine; grandchildren, Keith (Leslie) VanHolbeck, Cherie (Shon) Cobbs, Jamie (Nick) Valentia and Billy McKloskey, and nine great-grandchildren. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends in Escanaba, Milwaukee and Racine and her church family at St. Mary’s.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, William, on May 23, 1999; son-in-law, John McKloskey; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Jane (John) Reiffers; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Philip and Kathleen Labre.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary by the Lake Catholic Church, 7605 Lakeshore Dr., on Saturday, February 6, 2010, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Stephen J. Stradinger, Deacon Robert Starr and Deacon James Devona officiating. There will be a visitation at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until mass time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Vincent dePaul Food Pantry or Hospice Alliance have been suggested.

Ora Jean (Wille) Rokay

Ora Jean Rokay, age 78, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2010, at Wheaton-Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. Ora was born in Elk Grove, IL, November 21, 1931, daughter of the late Henry and Ida (Nee: Burmeister) Wille.

On August 30, 1974, she was united in marriage to Imre Rokay who preceded her in death, February 22, 2008. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Arthur H. Jonsson. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Ora loved tending to her garden all summer long. She was an avid Packer fan. Above all, she was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who treasured time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren who affectionately called her “Nanny.” She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her children, Linda (Todd) Norman of Racine, Debra Jonsson of Iola, Jon Jonsson of Sturtevant, Emeric (Liz Waterfall) Rokay of Wauwatosa, Erwin (Bonnie Ellenberger) Rokay of Racine; her grandchildren, Karin (Mike) Kirchmeier of Racine, Sara Norman of Oak Creek, Danielle (Adam) Lopez, Michael (Katie) Jonsson, all of Racine; her great-grandchildren, Paige LaMacchia, Nicolas Lopez, Josephine Jonsson, Mia Lopez, Jillian Kirchmeier and Michael Jonsson Jr; sisters, June Remec and Verda Wille ; sisters-in-law, Viola Wille and Joan Wille; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Irma Winslow, Wilbur Wille, Kenneth Wille, Lois Kerr and Don Wille.

Private funeral services will be held with interment to follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Memorials to Emmanuel Lutheran Church have been suggested.

Arthur C. Fox

Arthur C. Fox, age 91, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2010, at his residence. Arthur was born in Brainerd, Minnesota, April 12, 1918, son of the late George and Martha (Nee: Zander) Fox.

During World War II he served in the United States Navy and was a Decorated Fighter Pilot. Arthur attended Dunwoody Industrial Institute in Minneapolis in 1939 until 1941. On May 29, 1946, at the First Methodist Church, Milwaukee, he was united in marriage to Evelyn M. Harmon. Arthur was employed by IBM for forty years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of the Franksville United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his five children, David (Linda) Fox, Steven (Terri Ann)Fox, Richard Fox, Susan (Joe) Nosalik, Donna (Keith) Klawinski; his grandchildren, Jennifer (Mark) Fitzpatrick, Andrew Fox, Christoffer (Lynette) Fox, Amanda (Darin) Harcus, Kady Fox, David (Amanda) Hansen, Ani Injasoulian, Adam (Tanya) Noll, Brian Noll (fiancee, Heather Hawley), Grace and Anna Klawinski; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Maren and Connor Fitzpatrick, Kara Hoffman, Sarah Fox, Skyler Kincade, Bryce Harcus, Ian Hansen, Zoe Kozlik and Forest Friedli, Brady and Lindsay Noll; sister, Eleanor Keller; brother, Robert Fox; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. Myron Schuster MD

Myron Schuster, MD, age 91, died on January 30, 2010. He graduated from Marquette Medical School at age 21, trained in pathology at Milwaukee County Hospital, and was Chief of Pathology at St. Mary’s Hospital for 44 years.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Beverly (Lecker) of 16 years, and Phyllis (Peggy Hulbert) of 42 years. He is survived by his sons, Lawrence D. Schuster, MD, PhD, Richard J. Schuster, MD, and his wife Barbara Schuster, MD, his grandson Benjamin A. Schuster, JD, and his wife, Bridget Schuster, JD; his great-granddaughter, Ellen Leah; and many nieces and nephews. Private services were held Sunday with interment at the Racine Jewish Memorial Cemetery.

Walter F. Pilarski

Walter F.”Wally” Pilarski, 58, passed on Saturday, January 30, 2010, at his residence. Wally was born in Milwaukee on December 17, 1951, the son of Michael and Emma (nee: Kolar) Pilarski. He received his grade and high school education in Milwaukee and was united in marriage to Geraldine Pilarski in 1981.

Wally was employed at Michael’s Machine Shop for many years and found great enjoyment working on his computer.

Wally is survived by his sisters, Stella Buchholz of Milwaukee, Dorothy (William) Ennis of Kenosha; brother, Robert Pilarski of Onalaska; other relatives and dear friends and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine, in 1984; parents; and brother-in-law, William Buchholz.

Memorial services for Wally will be held at Sturino Funeral Home on Friday February 5, 2010, at 11:30 a.m. There will be a visitation at the funeral home on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until service time at 11:30 a.m.

Joyce L. (DeKeuster) Poulson

Joyce L. Poulson, age 89, passed away Thursday, January 28, 2010, at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. She was born November 18, 1920, in Racine, daughter of the late Martin and Mary (Nee: West) DeKeuster Sr.

Joyce graduated from Washington Park High School “Class of 1940.” On May 24, 1941, at St. Edward’s Catholic Church she was united in marriage to Charles S. Poulson. Joyce was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, a member and past president of the Christian Mothers, a member and past president of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and a member and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary. Joyce was also active with the Sacred Heart Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts for over 10 years. Above all she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be dearly missed.

Surviving are her husband of 68 years, Charles; four children, Cathy Poulson of Racine, Gary (Susan) Poulson of Madison, James (Dee) Poulson of Gay Mills, Charles M. Poulson of Milwaukee, three grandchildren, Matthew (Sarah) Poulson of Milwaukee, Jonathon Poulson of St. Paul, MN, and Sara Poulson of Madison; a great-granddaughter, Elinor; sister-in-law, Nancy Poulson of Racine; a brother, Martin (Rose) DeKeuster Jr. of Racine ;nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.

Thomas J. Porwoll

Thomas J. Porwoll, age 53, passed away Thursday, January 28, 2010, at Wheaton-Franciscan All Saints Medical Center following a courageous battle with cancer since July of 2008. Thomas was born in Denver, CO, on November 15, 1956, son of the late Joseph J. and Mary J. (Nee: Zirbes) Porwoll.

Thomas resided in Denver, Colorado, until age ten when he moved with his family to Michigan. He was a proud graduate and fan of the University of Michigan. On July 12, 1980, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Grand Blanc, MI, he was united in marriage to Tamara J. Short. In 1995 he moved to Racine with his family and was currently employed with YRC Worldwide. He enjoyed drives in his Corvette, deer hunting, gardening and golf. Above all Tom treasured his time spent with his family and attending his children’s events. He was very active in his son’s Boy Scout Troop #161, where he also served as chairperson. Tom will be forever remembered as a loving husband, father, son, brother and a great friend to many.

Survivors include his loving wife of nearly thirty years, Tamara; his children, Rebecca ( Jacob) Zabkowicz of West Bend, WI, Sarah Porwoll (David Campbell) of Sydney, Australia, Patrick Porwoll, of Racine; two sisters and brother, Mary Mihailoff of Flint, MI , Joseph (Cathie) Porwoll Jr. of Rochester Hills, MI, Deborah McNeely of Casper, WY; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gordon and Vivian Short of Bokeelia, FL; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Gordon (Nancy) Short, Cheryl (Jerry) Smith, all of Bokeelia, FL; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

Bergith DeRose

Bergith (nee: Sorensen) DeRose, 82, passed away on, Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – All Saints. She was born in Denmark on June 26, 1927, the daughter of Otto and Agnes (nee: Astrup) Sorensen. Bergith was united in marriage to Alfred C. DeRose on June 26, 1948. She formerly was a member of First Church of God and later attended Grace Church. Bergith enjoyed crocheting, doing word search games, watching her birds and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving are two daughters; Karen (Steve) Hall of Franksville and Lisa (Mark) Hyde of Waterford; five grandchildren, Sara (Christopher Witek) Hall, Rebecca Hall, Nathaniel Hyde, Katelyn Hyde and Grace Hyde; two sisters-in-law, Sarah DeRose and Phyllis DeRose. She held a special place in her heart for her nieces and nephews and is further survived by other relatives and friends.

Bergith was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred, on July 31, 1994; sisters and brother-in-law, Verda (Benjamin) Weber and Norma Bruno; brothers and sisters-in-law, James (Ruth) DeRose, Ann (Charles) Domanico, Michael (Jennie) DeRose, Rocco DeRose and Joseph DeRose.

Davide Edwin Zepnick

David Edwin Zepnick, age 60, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at the Hospice House, Pleasant Prairie, WI. David was born August 6, 1949, to Edwin and Martha (Nee: Lawniczak) Zepnick.

He attended St. Rita’s, Jerstad-Agerholm, and was a graduate of William Horlick High School, “Class of 1967.” After graduation Dave enlisted in the United States Army and served in Vietnam. He was a proud veteran, who loved the Fourth of July, fireworks, and Christmas. On May 17, 1986, Dave and Shelley Geilfuss were married at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church by Father John Ambelang. They enjoyed a short twenty-three years filled with joy and laughter. Dave was a Centerless Grinder last working July 24, 2006, at Beere Precision Products.

Besides his wife, Shelley, he is survived by his brothers, Richard and Bill (Malgosia); sister, Marlyn (John) Johnson and their sons, Godson, Steven, and Mark; special brother, Jack Cerny; special sisters and brother, Dawn Geilfuss and Debbie and Tom Bennett; many cousins from the Green Bay area. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Eleanor Cerny and Betty (Lester) Presser; and his special parents, Fred and Bonnie Geilfuss.

Our world was blessed with wonderful friends and co-workers we also consider as family. Thanks to Headlines for all the love and support. Dave always supplied the salon with bakery on Saturdays. Anyone who had been on the Christmas trolley – turkey trot – or even Friday night at Mike and Angelo’s know how Dave enjoyed being the host.

We were honored to be part of our younger friends' lives – he was “Uncle Dave” to Kelly and Travis Drumm, Shane and Zac, Mike, Allie, Katie and Sara Corona, David and Lisa Arvai, Dan and Laura Spranger, Tyler Mudge and his brothers, Collin and Jordan, and all the little stars in the neighborhood.

A Mass of Christian Burial followed by full military honors will be celebrated Saturday, January 30, 2010, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Rita Catholic Church, 4339 Douglas Ave., with Rev. Betty Jean Giese

Betty Jean Giese, 89, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints on Monday, January 25, 2010.

Jean was born in Des Moines, IA, on September 20, 1920, to David and Lora (nee, Crow) McMahan. She married Ralph R. Giese on April 26, 1974. Jean was an artist working with watercolors. She also, along with Ralph, loved to travel.

Jean is survived by her husband, Ralph R. Giese; daughters, Patricia Polachowski, Kay (John) Huston and Ann (Rick) Hayes; stepchildren, Alan (Abby) Giese and Catherine Giese; thirteen grandchildren; and twenty-one great-grandchildren. Jean is also survived by other relatives and many friends in Green Bay.

She was preceded in death by her son, David Schneider.

Funeral services for Jean will be held at Mt. Olivet Chapel on Friday, January 29, 2010, at 1:30 p.m. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at Mt. Olivet Chapel from 1 p.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, prayers or Mass’s may be offered in memory of Jean.

Elizabeth L.(Pearson) Kongstvedt

Elizabeth L. Kongstvedt, “Betty,” age 90 passed away Monday, January 25, 2010, at Ridgewood Care Center. She was born in Duluth, MN, October 23, 1919, daughter of the late Sidney and Christine (Nee: Smith) Pearson.

Betty graduated from the Duluth State Teachers College (now a part of the University of Minnesota) with majors in both History and Music. On June 11, 1945, in Duluth, she was united in marriage to Gerald N. “Jerry” Kongstvedt who preceded her in death on September 10, 1995. Betty was a true educator, and had a full-time career in teaching. In the early 1960s, Betty began her teaching career with the Racine Unified School District teaching at Trautwein School. Her career took her next to Washington Junior High School and then to Gilmore Middle School prior to her retirement.

Betty was a member of the AAUW, REA, WEA, Olympia Brown Unitarian Universalist Church, the Democratic Party, the Hoy Nature Club, and the Racine Symphony. She was also a founding member of the (YWCA) Y-Wives. Betty was an intelligent woman and had a good sense of humor. She was an accomplished and gifted musician who could arrange music, play piano, organ and pipe organ. She took great pride in having played the five-manual pipe organ (in high school) for the school assemblies. She loved cats and was a voracious reader. Anyone who knew Betty, knew that she was a proud Duluthian, even though she lived in Racine for over 60 years. She was a thirty-year breast cancer survivor and will be dearly missed.

Surviving are her daughter, Chris (Steve) Lieberman of Racine and Grand Rapids, MI; son, Dr. Peter (Emily) Kongstvedt of McLean, VA; four grandchildren, Cody (Grand Rapids, MI), Jamie, and Kate Lieberman of Racine, David Kongstvedt of McLean, VA; other relatives and dear friends.

Private services will be held with entombment at West Lawn Memorial Park. Memorials to Olympia Brown Unitarian Universalist Church, the Hoy Nature Club or the Racine Symphony Orchestra have been suggested.

Emily 'Sue' V. Fritz-Schulz

Emily V. Fritz-Schulz, 90, (nee, Rickert), passed away at her daughter’s home surrounded by her family on Sunday, January 24, 2010.

Sue was born in South Milwaukee on August 22, 1919, to George N. and Emily C. (nee, Mence) Rickert. She was united in marriage to Lawrence W. Fritz at Trinity Lutheran Church on July 1, 1944. He preceded her in death on January 6, 1965. On November 26, 1966, Sue married Robert C. Schulz at Trinity Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on July 11, 1980. Sue was employed by S. C. Johnson & Sons since 1965, retiring in 1982.

Survivors include her daughter, Kathy (John) Torkilsen; step-daughter, Pamela (Lynn) Murray; granddaughters, Hollie (Brian) Nelson, Aimee (Shaun) Dennis and Elizabeth (Brian) Wolf; great-grandchildren, Evan and Marin Holle, Tyler Nelson, Jillian Dennis, Mason and Allison Wolf; and sisters-in-law, Lillian Rickert and Elaine Rickert. Sue is also survived by other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; twin daughter, Karen Fritz; and brothers, George N. Rickert, Jr. and Thomas Rickert; nephew, Joseph Rickert; and dear friend Don Wuerzberger.

Gail Ann Bock

Gail Ann Bock, age 60, passed away Sunday, January 24, 2010, at Wheaton-Franscian All Saints Medical Center. Gail Ann was born in Milwaukee, March 1, 1949, daughter of the late Gale A. and E. Jean (Nee: Noerrlinger) Bock.

Gail Ann was a graduate of New Berlin High School “Class of 1967.” Gail Ann received her Bachelor's in Education from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and was working towards her master's from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She taught Social Studies and Speech for twelve years in Randolph, WI. Gail Ann then worked as a Legislative Aide for Senator Lynn Adelman and Senator Robert Jauch. She was very involved with state politics and chaired a number of political campaigns. She moved to Racine in 1991 and was employed as an appraiser for Southern Wisconsin Appraisal. She was an active member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. Gail Ann loved to read and was also an avid Brewer and Packer fan. She will be dearly missed.

Francis J. Vollendorf, age 83, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2010, at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. He was born in Hales Corners on January 31, 1926, son of the late Gustave and Mary (Nee: Babe) Vollendorf.

He was united in marriage to Dorothy Bauer on July 12, 1947, at St. Rose Catholic Church. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WW II. Francis was employed by Oster Mfg. for twenty years and last employed by J.I. Case for over twenty years until his retirement. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Catholic Mens Assn. He also was a member of J.I. Case “20 year club.” In his younger years, Fran played semi-pro fast pitch, he enjoyed fishing and golfing and was an avid Packer fan. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandkids, and will be forever remembered as a great role model.

Survivors include his wife Dorothy; his daughter, Mary Burza; sons, Thomas (Carole) Vollendorf and Robert (Robin) Vollendorf; 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Aileen Heide and Louise Busarow; nieces, nephews other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Thomas Burza; and two sisters, JoAnn Menden and Marie Herzog.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2201 Northwestern Ave., with Rev. Ronald O. Crewe officiating. Interment will follow at Southern WI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Town of Dover. Relatives and friends are welcome to meet with the family on Wednesday from 9:15 until 10:15 at the church. Memorials to Sacred Heart Catholic Church have been suggested by the family.

Catherine Ann 'Kay' Sturino

KENOSHA - Catherine Ann “Kay” (nee: Ruffolo) Sturino, 76, passed away at her residence surrounded by her loved ones on Saturday January 23, 2010. Kay was born in Kenosha on July 19, 1933, the daughter of Gabriel and Caroline (nee: Gentile) Ruffolo Sr. She was a graduate of Mary D. Bradford High School “Class of 1951.” Kay was united in marriage to Michael J. Sturino on June 9, 1951, in Kenosha. She was employed as a cook in the bakery/deli at Sentry Foods in Kenosha for 28 years retiring in 1989.

Kay found great enjoyment in reading, playing Bingo, attending flea markets and participating in the pontoon parade. She was fond of travel and loved her jewelry and crafts. Kay was an amazing cook and could whip up a ten-course meal without any hesitation at a moment's notice, when she was greeted with unexpected family and friends who would stop by to visit.
Kay was a loving and devoted wife and mother who was blessed with many dear friends, which included her woman’s club, that she was proud to be part of for over 50 years, along with the Red Hatters Club.

Kay and Mike lived in Kenosha until her retirement; then they relocated to Holcombe and spent many winters in Zephyrhills, Florida, moving back to Kenosha in 2009 to be with their family.

Kay is survived by her loving and devoted daughters, Linda Moser of Racine, Annette (Jeff) Palmen of Kenosha, Karen Kirkwood of Flint, Michigan; daughter-in-law, June Sturino of Kenosha; sister, Olivia Sturino; brothers, Gabriel Ruffolo, Richard Ruffolo; sisters-in-law, Gloria Sturino, Audrey Sturino and Edith (Ned) Sayles, all of Kenosha. She is further survived by ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, other relatives, special friend, Shirley Krogman of Eau Claire, and dear friends in Kenosha, Racine, Holcombe and Zephyrhills, Florida.

Kay was preceded in death by her husband, Mike, on September 14, 2009; two sons, Thomas on July 6, 2008, and infant son at birth; her parents; brothers-in-law, George Sturino in 1997, Albert Sturino in 2007', and step-mother, Florence Greco Ruffolo in 2006.

Funeral services will be held at the Sturino Funeral Home on Wednesday January 27, 2010, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Mark Jones officiating. There will be a visitation at the Sturino Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 26, 2010, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Kay’s name may be directed to the family to be used toward her favorite charity.

Dorothy Jean Skovsted

MADISON - Dorothy Jean (nee: Hartig) Skovsted, 84, passed away at St. Mary’s Care Center in Madison on Friday, January, 22, 2010. She was surrounded and comforted by her loving family.

Dorothy was born in Racine, WI, on March 26, 1925, to Louis and Annetta (nee: Jensen) Hartig. Dorothy was united in marriage to Cliff Skovsted on June 19, 1948, in Racine, WI.

Dorothy graduated from Washington Park High School and worked in the offices at the Massey-Harris Company prior to starting her family with Cliff.

She was a faithful member of All Saints Lutheran Church in Fitchburg, WI, and years earlier she was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in West Allis and Bethania Lutheran Church in Racine, WI. Dorothy highly valued her friends in life enjoying holiday picnics, card club and women’s groups that met for many years. She and Cliff shared a love for dancing – their polka could not be beat. Dorothy enjoyed painting, quilting and sewing all types of clothing and costumes for her children and grandchildren. Dorothy was a phenomenal cook, but also looked forward to visits to her favorite restaurants and dining with her family. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. Dorothy was very proud of her family and loving marriage to Cliff of over 60 years.

Surviving are her husband, Cliff of Fitchburg; their children, Gary (Marlene) Skovsted of Boulder, CO; Carol Skovsted of Wauwatosa, WI, and Cheryl (Patrick) Godar of Madison, WI; grandchildren, Eric (Mary) Skovsted of St. Johnsbury, VT; Sonja (fiancé, Robert Scott) Skovsted of Portland, OR; Holly Godar and Bryna Godar of Madison, WI; one sister, Eunice Hecht of Racine; three sisters-in-law, Betty Hartig, Virginia (Bob) Repa, and Doris Skovsted of Racine; three brothers-in-law, Gilbert Skovsted of Fond du Lac, WI, Pete Christoffersen and Cal Thompson of Racine. She is further survived by many special nieces, nephews, other dear relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by three sisters, Dolores (Milton) Mogren, Irma (Louis) Anderson and June (Tony) Kraemer; four brothers, Louis (Gertrude) Hartig, Clifford (Ann) Hartig, Roy (Emily) Hartig and Harry Hartig; sisters-in-law, Faye Skovsted, LaVerne Christofferson, Beulah Thompson and Bernice (Dick) Dryer; brothers-in-law, Russell Skovsted, Raymond Hecht and Marvin Skovsted.

Her funeral service will be celebrated at Sturino Funeral Home on Friday, January 29, 2010, at noon, with Rev. Richard Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. There will be a visitation at the funeral home on Friday before services from 11 a.m. until service time.

Edna L. Clausen

Mt. Pleasant - Mrs. Edna L. (nee: Stange) Clausen, 73, passed away on January 22, 2010, at Ridgewood Care Center.

Edna was born in Burlington to the late Albert and Emma (nee: Miller) Stange on March 11, 1916, and lived over 85 years in Racine. In 1938, she was united in marriage to Harry Clausen at Gethsemane Lutheran Church.

Edna was a 1935 graduate of Horlick High School and as a young girl she worked for the Ramsey family as a babysitter. She then went on to become their housekeeper and cook. In later years, she worked at Hamilton Beach. She was a member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church since her marriage and was also a beautiful seamstress who made everything from draperies to clothes for her daughters and their dolls. She did lots of different stitchery and in later years she started doing magnificent counted cross stitch pictures which are treasured by her family. She also enjoyed golf, reading and crossword puzzles. Edna was a wonderful cook and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Edna is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Diane (George) Gissell of Bailey’s Harbor and Marilyn (Bill) Higgs of Ladysmith, British Columbia; four grandchildren, David Gissell, Tim (Amy Bolin) Gissell, Brad Gissell and Amelia Perkins; six great-grandchildren, Timmy Gissell, Shannon Gissell, Christopher Gissell, Levi Gissell, Kayla Lord and Jessica Bielke; four great-great-grandchildren, Madison Gissell, Brooke Bobick, Teagan Bobick and Preston Gissell; two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law, Kenny (Saralee) Clausen and Nancy Clausen. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years; her parents; step-father, Karl Albrecht; brother, Donald Stange; grandson, Demian Perkins; brother-in-law Leonard Clausen; sister-in-laws Hazel Woodward and Helen Rasmussen; and in-laws Peter (Kristi) Clausen.

Memorial services for Edna will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 27, 2009, at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 3319 Washington Ave., with Rev. Crystal Steinberg officiating. Michael J. Acklam

Michael J. Acklam, age 62, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2010, at Wheaton-Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. Michael was born in Racine, March 3, 1947, son of Donald R. and Lois M. (Nee: Furst) Acklam.

Michael was a graduate of William Horlick High School “Class of 1965.” He was a former member of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church. He was a loving father, son and brother who will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his children, Brian (Caroline) Acklam of Mesa, AZ, Lori Vance of Rhinelander, WI, John (Peggy) Acklam of Pleasant Prairie, WI, Kim Acklam of Racine; his three grandchildren, Stephanie Acklam, Crystal and Nathaniel Carlson; his mother, Lois (Harry) Jacobsen of Sturtevant, WI; brothers, Charles (Suzanne) Acklam of Whitefish Bay, WI, Steven (Kathy) Acklam of Federal Way, WA; stepbrothers, Harry(Wendy) Jacobsen Jr., Gloria (Mike) Stanke, all of Racine, Roger (MaryAnn) Jacobsen of Bristol, WI, Robin (Patty) Jacobsen of Racine; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. Mary Ann Skrzypek

Mary Ann Skrzypek, 80, passed away at Lincoln Village Convalescent Center on Wednesday, January 20, 2010.

Mary Ann was born in Connersville, IN, on February 23, 1929, to Edward J. and Alice L. (nee, Seifer) Meyer. She married Raymond J. Skrzypek, Sr. in Connersville on June 12, 1972. He preceded her in death on November 10, 2006. Mary Ann worked for Moxness Products for sixteen years before retiring from the Racine Motor Inn in 1984 after more than sixteen years of service.

Mary Ann is survived by a special cousin, Margaret Macke, several other cousins; special friends, James Marcotte and Wilma Offutt; and many other dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and daughters, Marsha Lee and Melissa Ann; brother, Irvin Meyer; and sister, Lee Meyer.

Funeral services for Mary Ann will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, January 23, 2010, at noon with Rev. Donald Johnson officiating. Entombment will take place in Graceland Cemetery. Melvin C. Morkert

Melvin C. Morkert, age 86, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2010. Melvin was born April 15, 1923, in Leeds, North Dakota, to Joseph and Lena (Nee: Struckness) Morkert and was educated in Leeds.

Melvin enlisted in the United States Army from 1942 to 1944. He served in the 340th Army Corps of Engineers in the South Pacific and then in Alaska, where he helped to build the Alaskan Highway. After discharge from the service he enrolled at Cal Area Technical School in Burbank, California. While attending school he worked at Hughes Aircraft for Howard Hughes. After receiving his aircraft and power plant certification he worked in Waco, Texas, and then went to Grand Forks, North Dakota, to work for Jolly Aviation as a crop duster.

In 1950 he came to Racine and worked at Racine Commercial Airport. In 1970 he was hired by S.C. Johnson Wax to set up an Aircraft Maintenance Department and was the Chief of Maintenance until he retired in 1991. He received the Charles Taylor Master Mechanic Award in 2000, for over 50 years as an FAA Certified Mechanic. He was inducted into the EAA Hall of Fame in 2001. Melvin was a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association and the Johnson Wax “20 Year Club.”

Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Ann; his two daughters, JoAnn Morkert and Janet (Joseph) Maller; his special granddaughter, Kayla Rae Maller, all of Racine; sisters, Mildred Morkert of Leeds, ND, Gladys Dickey of Scotts Bluff, NE, Beatrice Eide of Frazee, MN; sisters-in-law, Bette Schulz of Racine, Kay Vassallo of Tucson, AZ; brother-in-law, Edward Floyd of Racine; his granddog, Gracie; many dear nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Lena Morkert; and by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank and Carmela Vassallo.

Jodi K. Johnson-Zwieg

Sullivan – Jodi Katherine Zwieg (nee: Francour), 44, passed away on January 20, 2010, at St. Luke’s Hospital after a well fought, three-year battle with esophageal cancer.

Jodi was born in Racine to Robert and Katherine (nee: Burdick) Francour on August 31, 1965. She lived in Racine for most of her life but moved to Sullivan in 2007. In Sullivan, she was united in marriage to Paul A. Zwieg on January 31, 2009.

Jodi received a degree from the University of Phoenix and was employed at Harley Davidson in the Human Resources Department for 17 years and retired on November 17, 2009, due to her illness. She was a member of the Harley Owners Group (HOG) and had a passion for motorcycling. She enjoyed camping and off-roading with jeeps and had a love for dogs. Jodi was an inspirational person with a great sense of humor.

Jodi will be dearly missed by her husband, Paul; her step-children, Sarah and Andrew; her parents, Robert (Katherine) Francour; her brother and sister-in-law, Jason (Erin) Francour; her nephew, Elijah Francour; her mother-in-law, Carol (Carl) Anderson; her father-in-law, Phil (Nancy) Zwieg; her special friend, Daniel Johnson; and aunts, uncles, cousins, other nieces and nephews and many other friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents.

Constantinos 'Dean' A. Kokkinakis

Constantinos “Dean” A. Kokkinakis, age 41, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep, Wednesday, January 20, 2010. Dean was born in Racine, December 3, 1968, son of Anastasios and Mary (Nee: Demetriou) Kokkinakis.

On May 3, 1997, at the Kimissis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church he was united in marriage to Antonietta “Toni” Marano. Dean had been currently employed by Creation Technologies of Oak Creek for the past five years. Dean was a member of the Kimissis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church and served on the church council. He recently joined the Moose Lodge. More than anything Dean loved being with his family and participating in his children’s sports and activities, especially baseball. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered as the most loving and outstanding husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend.

Nadine V. (Roberts) Miller

Nadine V. Miller, age 90, passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2010, at Lakeshore Manor. Nadine was born in Racine, June 21, 1919, daughter of the late Bert and Anna (Nee: Spanbauer) Roberts.

In 1942 at St. Edward Catholic Church she was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Robert “Bob” J. Miller, who preceded her in death, April 12, 2008. Nadine taught piano for forty-eight years. She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church and was a former member of St. Edward’s for seventy years. Nadine belonged to the Racine Music Teacher’s Association and was past president of the Catholic Junior League. Above all she was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her three daughters, Sharon (Paul) Bauer of Appleton, Susan Kiiskila of Racine, Roberta (Peter) Kerrick of Brookfield, 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Kenneth Kiiskila; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Bob and Jean Thielen.

Duane Bloch

Duane Bloch, age 65, passed away Monday, January 18, 2010, at Wheaton-Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. Duane was born in Detroit, MI, on April 20, 1944, son of the late Howard A. and Ruth E. (Nee: Roshar) Bloch.

He served in the United States Army. On January 30, 1981, he was united in marriage to Diane Bojarski. Duane retired March 7, 2001, after 32 years, 4 months, and 7 days of employment with Webster Electric which was then purchased by Danfoss Fluid Power.

Survivors include his wife, Diane; his mother-in-law, Julia Bojarski; sister-in-law, Christine (Jim) Foster; and nieces, Kim Bojarski, Angela Minev; and great-niece, Venetta Minev; other relatives and dear friends.

Audrey M. LaFever

Audrey M. LaFever (nee: Anderson), 74, passed away at WFH-All Saints on January 18, 2010, after a short illness.

Audrey was born in Racine to the late Alfred and Grace (nee: Schmoll) Anderson on March 14, 1935, and lived her entire life in Racine. She was a devoted mother of 11 children, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She also loved crafts and baking, but the most important part of her life was spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children, Dale (Linda) LaFever Jr., Debbie (Jamie) Darracott, Carol (Roland) Morales, Margaret (Lewis) Marquez, Charles LaFever, Lori (Jens) Martinsen, Joan Evans, David (Jennifer) LaFever, James LaFever, and Kevin (Laurie) LaFever; daughter-in-law Susan LaFever; 60 grandchildren; 78 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; brother, Jerry (Carolyn) Anderson; sister, Lory (Marv) McCray; and her loyal dog, Bear. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Joel LaFever; and grandsons Keller McQuay and Brian LaFever.

Clara M. Paulson

Mrs. Clara Marie Paulson (nee: Young), 88, passed away at Ridgewood Care Center on Monday, January 18, 2010.

Clara was born in Lafayette, Indiana, to the late John and Ella (nee: Lohmann) Young on December 17, 1921. She was united in marriage to Frederick “Bud” Paulson in Millwood, Illinois, on December 10, 1945, who preceded her in death in 1959. She had lived in Racine since 1949.

Mrs. Paulson graduated from Wolcott High School in Indiana, class of 1939. She received a degree in nursing from Rush Medical – St. Luke’s in Chicago, Illinois, and BSN from Alverno College in Milwaukee. She served in the United States Navy in the Navy Nurse Corps during World War II. She was employed by Johnson’s Wax from 1963 until her retirement in 1987. She also worked 10 years with Hamilton Beach. She was a member of the St. Luke’s Episcopal Church O.E.S., Eastern Star, White Shrine, and the American Legion # 171 in Union Grove.

She will be dearly missed by her son, Robert (Sharon) Paulson of Caledonia; two granddaughters, Sherri (Greg) Ellen Barnes of Columbus, Mississippi, and Bobbi (Lyle) Hedgecock of Washington D.C.; four great-granddaughters, Samantha, Madeline, Cailyn and Claire; one sister, Helen Chalfant of Hobb Sound, Florida; one sister-in-law, Maxine Young of Lafayette, Indiana; other relatives; and special friends, Irene Dellinger, Jan Clunie, Estelle Geyer and Art (Judy) Grebetz. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Emery G. Adams; her grandson, Robert Andrew Paulson; one brother and sister-in-law, John (Elizabeth) Young and two brothers-in-law, James Chalfant and Robert Young.

Funeral service will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home on Saturday, January 23, 2009, at 10 a.m. with The Rev. Liz Simmons officiating. Private interment will be held at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family from 9 a.m. until service time. Memorials may be directed to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.

Gary A. Miller

Gary A. Miller, 50, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on January 17, 2010. He was born in Kenosha on July 11, 1959, the son of Ted and Lil (nee: Gross) Miller. Gary was a graduate of Mary D. Bradford High School “Class of 1977.” He owned and operated The Village Deli in Sturtevant along with his wife Jacqueline.

Gary was an avid Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs enthusiast, attending games at Wrigley Field as often as possible.

Gary is survived by his loving wife, Jacqueline; beloved daughter, Liza; and adoring grandson, Javon Jeremiah Edwards, all of Racine. He is further survived by his mother, Lil Miller of Kenosha; brothers, James (Barb) Miller of Ohio, David (Pat) Miller; sister, Alice (Curt) Logan, all of Racine.

Gary is also survived by his mother-in-law, Barb Filber; brothers-in-law, George “Butch” (Heidi) Filber and Daniel Filber; sisters-in-law, Susan Drenkhahn and Anna Filber all of Racine; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and dear friends in Racine, Kenosha and loyal customers of Village Deli.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ted Miller in 1975; and father-in-law, George Filber Jr. in 1994.

In keeping with the families’ wishes, private services have been held.

Geraldine 'Sis' Eisenhut

Geraldine ‘Sis’ (nee: Johnson) Eisenhut, 91, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2010, at Lakeshore Manor. Geraldine was born in Racine on September 26, 1918, the daughter of Harry and Clara (nee: Dase) Johnson. She was united in marriage to Bert Eisenhut on June 6, 1942, in Racine.

Geraldine was a lifelong member of Holy Communion Lutheran Church and a longtime member of Meadowbrook Country Club. She found great enjoyment in golfing, playing Yahtzee, various card games and was involved in numerous bowling leagues,

Geraldine is survived by her loving daughters, Karen Lofquist and Kay Johnson, both of Racine; nine grandchildren, Julie (Richard) Nelson, Diane (George) Sullivan, Scott (Dawn) Lofquist, Sharon (Randy) Moore, Bert (Lori) Seeger, Roger (Leslie) Lofquist Jr., Wendy (Ted) Cain, Jennifer (John) Kolp, Dennis (Marcy) Johnson Jr.; 17 great-grandchildren, Terry Cain, Maggie Cain, Jennell Kolp, Jacque Kolp, Christopher Nelson, David Nelson, Jason (Lisa) Koontz, Steven Seeger, Zachery Seeger, Liz Seeger, Tyler Sullivan, Blake Sullivan, Alannah Lofquist, Leah Lofquist, Austin Johnson, Alex Lofquist, Jack Lofquist; and one great-great-grandson, Ryan Koontz. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Bert, on October 30, 1991.

Funeral services for Geraldine will be held at Sturino Funeral Home on Thursday January 21, 2010, at 11 a.m. with entombment at Graceland Cemetery Crypts. There will be a visitation at Sturino Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 20, 2010, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Lakeshore Manor or to the Juvenile Diabetes Association have been suggested.

Geraldine’s family would like to extend a very special thank you to Lakeshore Manor for their loving care and all the kind-hearted people who were thoughtful enough to take her for her therapeutic strolls in the fresh outside air and to enjoy God’s beauty.

Helen (Evans) Borg

Helen Evans Borg of Racine, who was born March 28, 1912, died Sunday, January 17, 2010.

She resided in Delavan, Wisconsin, for seventeen years with her late husband, George Marshall Borg, until his death in 1962. Most of her life since leaving Delavan was spent in volunteer hospital service and Catholic parish work.

She is survived by an adopted son, James M. Borg of Lake Forest, Illinois.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, January 20, 2010, at 10 a.m. at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, 1903 Green St., with Rev. Don Zirkel officiating. Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery in Delavan, WI, beside her late husband. Memorials to Focus on the Family or to the Pro-Life Action League have been suggested.
