Norman F. Nuenke

Surrounded by his wife and hospice caregivers, Norman F. Nuenke, age 78, passed away on Friday, December 26, 2014, from a long illness of emphysema. He died at his residence. Norman was born in Bay City, MI, on July 25, 1936, son of the late Harold and Ruth (Nee: Harrer) Nuenke.

Norman was a graduate of San Diego State University, earning degrees in Chemistry and Mathematics in 1959.  He had studied at Bay City Jr. College and at Central Michigan. 

On February 6, 1987, in Milwaukee, he was united in marriage to Sue (Reno) Haley.

He was employed as a Senior Chemist at American Roller Company in Union Grove for many years, retiring in August of 2003. He had previous employment with Kirkhill Rubber company and AMF Voit in Orange County, California; was an instructor at Rochester Vocational Tech in Minnesota; a research chemist at Convair Scientific in San Diego; and at General Tire and Dow Chemical in Michigan. He was a member of the American Chemical Society and the American Society for Quality. 

Norman was an avid golfer, bowler and reader. He loved working in his garden. But more than anything, he was so happy to spend time with his family and his loving dog, Jenny. Norm will be greatly missed. His sweet Jenny joined him on December 29.

Survivors include his loving wife of twenty-seven years, Sue; his children, David (Dolly) Vogel, Julie (Rob) Arnell, Bill Vogel, Gordon Haley; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Richard (Carla) Nuenke; sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepson, Jerry James Haley.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2015, at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Jim Olson officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Saturday at the funeral home from 2:30 p.m. until time of service at 3:30 p.m.
