David L. Spencer

David L. Spencer, age 55, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2008, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire, WI.

David was born in Racine, April 11, 1953, son of Jack A. and Ardice “Tootie” R. (Macaione) Spencer. On June 10, 1988, he was united in marriage to Barbara A. Singstock who preceded him in death, July 16, 2005.

David was employed by Racine Water & Wastewater for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing. Above all he was devoted to his family and will be sadly missed.

Survivors include his daughter, Gina Spencer (Robert Westerlund) of Franksville, WI; his grandson, Bryce Spencer; his parents, Jack and Tootie Spencer of Racine; brothers, Jack (Mary) Spencer Jr., Alan (Diane) Spencer, Don (Karen) Spencer, all of Racine; brother-in-law, Jeffrey (Barbara) Sutton of Sparta, WI; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Debbie Spencer and Jeanne Sutton.

A Memorial Service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, June 5, 2008, 11:00 A.M. Interment will be held at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Thursday from 9:30 A.M. until time of service.

Orlando D. Collins

Orlando D. Collins, age 15, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2008, at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, WI, due to a drowning.

Orlando was born in Chicago, IL, son of Elander Kimbrough and Wanda J. Collins. Orlando was a graduate of Red Apple Elementary and Gilmore Middle School and was currently attending William Horlick High School. He loved sports especially football and basketball. Above all he loved spending time with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his mother, Wanda Williams (fiancé, Robert Hargrove); his three brothers, Jamaris and Jaleel Kimbrough, and Rodya Nicks; eight sisters, Jacqueline Collins, Jane Collins, Lawanda (Octavio) Martinez, Desiree Collins, Tiara Collins, Tacora Townsend, Selby Todd, Deja Boatner-Kimbrough; all of Racine; grandparents, Clarence Collins of Chicago, IL, Mary Cole of Racine, Mary Fortney of Chicago, IL; great-grandmother, Ada Mae Howard of Racine; close friends, Ricky Warren and Dontrell C. Oliver Warren; special cousin, Glynis Kimbrough; special aunt, Dorothy Howard; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his great grandfather, Jack Howard.

Funeral services will be held at the New Omega Baptist Church, 5731 Northwestern Avenue, Friday, June 6, 2008, 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Fred Richmond officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until time of service. Memorials to the family have been suggested.

Bernard C. 'Bud' Pfost

Bernard C. "Bud" Pfost, age 84, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2008, at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints.

Bernard was born in Racine, October 11, 1923, son of the late Arthur J. and Margaret (Nee: Roeschen) Pfost. During World War II, Bud proudly served in the United States Army Air Corps as a Technical Sergeant and Top Turret Gunner on a B-17 while stationed in Foggia, Italy.

On August 16, 1947, he was united in marriage to Gloria R. Surendonk who preceded him in death May 20, 1994. He was employed by Western Printing for forty-two years, retiring in 1983. Bud was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church. He attended Layton School of Art and during his retirement he enjoyed drawing Disney characters and making greeting cards. He was an avid dartball player for over fifty years and also an avid golfer. Bud belonged to the Washington Park Monday Senior Men’s League and was a fixture at the Shoop Park Golf Course, scoring a hole in one in 1993. Above all he was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his children, Marcia L. Pfost, Mark B. Pfost, Nikki L. (Jeff) Benn; his four grandchildren, Michael (Lisa) Sapp, Peter Sapp, Rena (Brian) Weyrauch, Lisa (Jeremy) Mengert; his five great-grandchildren, Savannah and Addison Weyrauch, Owen and Adriana Sapp, Bryce Mengert; sister, Ann L. Wilson; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Patricia Pfost, Cheryl (Roy) McCormick, Glenn (Dianne) Surendonk ; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by his brother, Arthur T. Pfost and his brother-in-law, Winton Wilson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Rita Catholic Church, 4339 Douglas Avenue, Wednesday, June 4, 2008, 10:30 A.M. with Rev. G. Stobba OSA officiating. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. and Wednesday at the church from 10:00 A.M. until time of Mass. Memorials to St. Rita Catholic Church or to the American Cancer Society have been suggested.

Bena Judith Vallone

Bena Judith Vallone, age 93, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2008, at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints.

She was born February 12, 1915, in Racine and was a lifelong resident. On May 9, 1936 in Woodstock, IL she was united in marriage to Pete S. Vallone and they were together for 63 years until he passed away November 20, 1999.

Bena was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her daughter, Pat Vallone of Racine; her son and daughter-in-law, Peter D. and Tricia Vallone of New Haven, CT; granddaughter, Carla Vallone and husband Greg Fleishman of Del Mar, CA; a great granddaughter, Sofia; brother, Joseph (Mary) Shinkunas of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; sister, Emma Hetzelberger of Racine; nieces and nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Steffa Gedraitis and Anna (Joseph) Grauwels.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 1533 Erie Street, Wednesday, June 4, 2008, 10:30 A.M. with Reverend John D. Aiello officiating. Entombment will follow at Calvary Crypts, Kinzie Avenue. Relatives and friends may meet with the family for visitation at the church on Wednesday 9:30 A.M. until time of Mass. Memorials to the Arthritis Foundation have been suggested.

Consuelo Cavazos Sanchez

Consuelo Cavazos Sanchez, age 85, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2008, at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints.

She was born in Monterrey, Mexico, February 10, 1923, daughter of the late Frederico and Antonia (Nee: Garza) Cavazos. In 1943, she was united in marriage to Tomas Reyes Sanchez in San Antonio, TX and it was in San Antonio that their children were born. Tomas passed away March 8, 1958. Consuelo was devout Catholic and a member of St. Lucy’s Catholic Church.

She was a cook at Las Carmelitas Convent in San Antonio, TX, and for years worked at Kurten Clinic and for Dr. Henkel in housekeeping. Above all she was dedicated to her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be dearly missed.

Surviving are her children, Tomas R. Sanchez Jr, Rosemary (Richard) Matsen, Crescencio R. (Catherine) Sanchez, Fred R. (Adela) Sanchez, Jose G. (Andrea) Sanchez, Dave A. (Lolly) Sanchez, Joseph A. Sanchez (Sylvia and Ramon Anchondo and family), Frank V. (Bertha) Sanchez; 21 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Domingo Padilla of San Antonio, TX; dear friend, Joe Rodriguez; other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her soul mate of 50 years, Roberto Mandujano; 3 sisters, Lydia, Antonia, and Juanita; her brother, Frederico; and dear friend, Connie Rodriguez.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, June 2, 2008, 11 A.M. at St. Lucy’s Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Ave with Reverend Mark R. Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Sunday at the funeral home 6-8 P.M. and Monday at the church 10:30 A.M. until time of Mass.

Harold E. Richow

Harold E. Richow, 79, of Sun City, CA, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2008, at Inland Valley Medical Center in Windomar, CA. He was born in Racine, January 21, 1929, son of the late Harold and Marie (Nee: Bellaire) Richow.

Harold joined the U.S. Army towards the end of WWII and was stationed in the Aleutian Islands. Upon his discharge from the service, he had various careers throughout his lifetime.

Surviving are his wife, Wilma; his former wife and mother of his children, Rosemary Richow of Oceanside ,CA; children, JoAnne Tierney of Belle Plane, MN, Debbie Richow of Racine, Cindy Anderson of Buena Park, CA, Marianne (Paul) Douglas of Racine. Harold “Rick” (Charlette) Richow of Phoenix, AZ, Mike (Ann) Richow of Racine, Richard (Christine) Richow of Westchester, OH; stepchildren, Deana (Tom) Pentzer of Chino, CA, Debbie (Robert) Miller of Diamondbar, CA, Glenda (Ken) Kransfeldt of Yorba Linda, CA, Greg (Darlene) Brobston of Altra Loma, CA; 25 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn.

Relatives and friends may meet the family for visitation at the funeral home Saturday, June 21, 2008, 1-3 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Heart Assn or one’s favorite charity have been suggested.
