Infant Rya Reyna Benson

Infant Rya Reyna Benson passed away Saturday , December 31, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Medical Center. Surviving are her parents, Elisabet Ramirez and Travis Benson; her brother, David; grandparents, Elio (Hilda) Compos and Christian (Kerry) Nokkentved; other relatives and many dear friends.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2012, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Samuel Jackson officiating. Relatives and friends are welcome to meet with the family Tuesday at 9 a.m. until time of service. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery.

Joan Lorine (Hostrawser) Liban

Joan L. Liban, 85, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan Health Care – All Saints on December 31, 2011.

Joan was born in Milwaukee to the late Paul and Lorine Gilbert on December 3, 1926. After the death of her mother when Joan was three days old and her father’s death at the age of 4, she was adopted by her paternal grandparents, the late Roy and Edith Gilbert. She lived in West Allis for most of her life.

Joan was a graduate of West Allis Hale High School. On February 14, 1948, she married her high school sweetheart, Dean Hostrawser. He preceded her in death on March 25, 1981.

Joan was employed as a Personal Lines Underwriter for the Robert Owen and Assoc. Insurance Agency for 25 years. She retired in 1988. On February 9, 1991, she was united in marriage to Merle Liban who also preceded her in death on March 4, 1995.

Joan was a member of First United Methodist Church in West Allis and, later, Christ Church United Methodist in Racine. She enjoyed volunteering her time at Aurora Saint Luke’s Hospital in Milwaukee.

Survivors include her dearly loved daughter, Claudia (Michael) Widen; grandchildren, Paul (Ann) Widen and Megan (David) Gundry; great-grandsons, Jacob and Weston Gundry; other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Viola (Joseph) Segrin and Bessie (George) Stolowski.

A memorial celebration in honor of Joan’s life will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home on Thursday, January 5, 2012, at noon. Private inurnment will be held at Highland Memorial Park Cemetery in New Berlin. Relatives and friends may meet with the family from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

The family would like to thank April, Mary and Kathy of Wheaton Franciscan Home Hospice and Dr. Brady Welsh for their compassionate and dedicated care of Joan.

Robert F. Hazen

Mt. Pleasant -- Robert F. Hazen, 89, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2011.

Bob was born in Racine on December 26, 1922, to the late Frederick and Helen Hazen (nee: O’Connor). He lived in Racine all his life. On October 18, 1947, he was united in marriage to Ellie Reiser in Kenosha. They were married 55 years until her death on October 27, 2002.

Mr. Hazen served in the United States Army during World War II where he was wounded. He served overseas in the Philippines and occupied Japan. He worked at Ladish Company in Cudahy for 30 years and retired in 1986. Bob and Ellie loved to travel all over the United States, with Hawaii being their favorite. He was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church.

Robert will be dearly missed by his children, Tim (Sue) Hazen, Kim (Bob) Lehan, David (Cindy) Hazen, Robin Hazen and Pete (Cindy) Hazen; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Helen (Frederick) VonGonten; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellie; his parents; one brother, Charles Hazen; one sister, Francis Schulz; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mathilda (Frederick) Reiser; two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law, Joseph (Lilly) Hall and Adalbert Reiser; and one niece, Kathy Frank.

Funeral services in honor of Bob will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park Chapel. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Monday evening, January 2, 2012, from 4 until 6 p.m and on Tuesday morning from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be directed to Hospice Alliance.

James W. Andresen

James W. Andresen, age 79, passed away Monday, December 26, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center. James was born in Racine, July 4, 1932, son of the late Christian and Ruth H. (Nee: Day) Andresen.

On August 12, 1956, he was united in marriage to Rose Ann M. Loftus. Jim was a graduate of Washington Park High School “Class of 1950.” Furthering his education, he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1957 from UW–Madison. He co-owned and operated Northside Pharmacy for many years with Fred Knobel. Jim was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and an avid golfer. Above all, he was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who cherished time spent with his family. He will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-five years, Rose Ann; his children, Gwen Andresen of Racine, Alane (Chris) Pignotti of Phoenix, AZ, James (Bonnie) Andresen of Racine, RoseMarie (Ross) Ehrick of Phoenix, AZ; his grandchildren, Arthur (Juliana) Pignotti, Alex (Giselle) Pignotti, Christopher Pignotti, all of Phoenix, AZ, James J. Richard 'Dick' D. Maddern

Richard “Dick” D. Maddern, age 72, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 26, 2011, at his residence. He was born in Hurley, WI, September 8, 1939, son of the late Clayton and Hilma (Nee: Waldros) Maddern.

Dick proudly served in the United States Navy stationed on the USS Rich. On June 18, 1960, in North Carolina he was united in marriage to Sandra E. Pittman. Dick was employed by S.C. Johnson Wax and J.I. Case Company, and retired from the City of Kenosha working in maintenance. He was actively involved with the New Day Drum and Bugle Corps and served as President. He enjoyed fishing, oil painting, visits to the casino, and was a huge Packer fan. More than anything he cherished time spent with his family and will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-one years, Sandra; his daughters, Debra Marie Maddern and Mary Gail Scypta, Leslie (Stanley) Patton; his three grandchildren, Taylor Maddern, Deandre Patton, Ashlynn Maddern; brothers, Gary (Sue) Maddern, Dan (Diane) Maddern; brother-in-law, Kenneth Pittman; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Marlayne.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 30, 2011, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment with full military honors will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Bernard 'Barney' E. Henkes

Bernard “Barney” E. Henkes, age 85, passed away Monday, December 26, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan–All Saints Medical Center. Bernard was born in Racine on December 30, 1925, son of the late Peter J. and Veronica A. (Nee: Itzenhuiser) Henkes.

During World War II he served in the United States Army in the Pacific Theatre. On June 19, 1954, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church he was united in marriage to Beatrice A. Sieger. Bernard was employed by J.I. Case Company from 1946-1954 and then by the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier until his retirement in 1987. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Bea; children, Peter (Ann) Henkes of Racine, Jonathan (Carla) Henkes of Sioux Falls, SD, Kevin Henkes (Laura Dronzek) of Madison, Peggy (Bill) Smithana of Racine, Chris Henkes of Racine; six grandchildren; brother, Norbert “Nubbs” (Ann) Henkes of Cincinnati, OH; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his five brothers, Lawrence, Stephen, Robert, Ralph and Donald.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, December 30, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2201 Northwestern Ave., with Rev. Ronald O. Crewe officiating. Theresa V. (Brill) Bergs

Theresa V. Bergs, age 84, passed away gently in her sleep Saturday, December 24, 2011, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.

She was born in Colby, Wisconsin, on August 10, 1927, to the late Theodore and Magdalena (Nee: Hoffman) Brill. Nicknamed “Toots,’ she grew up on the family farm helping to milk their herd of Guernsey cows before and after school each day. Toots attended Wisconsin State Teacher College in Stevens Point and taught at the Ferrell School, a one-room schoolhouse in Marathon County for several years before moving to Milwaukee, where she earned her BA in education from UWM.

On June 16, 1952, she married Robert H. Bergs, her beloved “Bob,” and for almost 60 years their love for each other, deep faith in God and generous nature was an inspiration to all who knew them. Toots was an active member of St. Elizabeth Parish and Our Lady of Good Hope in Milwaukee and volunteered for numerous organizations. For over 20 years she and her quilting group created many beautiful quilts for auctions and other fundraisers. After moving to Racine in 2009, she and Bob joined St. Rita’s Parish and attended Mass faithfully until it was no longer possible. Toots had a lifelong love of learning, was a talented seamstress, patient teacher, excellent baker with an endless supply of chocolate chip cookies, a loyal Brewers fan, keen vegetable gardener and could resourcefully feed a big crowd on a moment’s notice. Above all, Toots was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother whose love for her family seemed to shine even brighter on Christmas Eve as she gathered everyone around in celebration of Christ’s birth. It is fitting that for years to come, December 24th, the holiest of nights, will evoke glad memories of Toots and great joy that she is with God.

Theresa is survived by her children, Mary Bergs, John (Kathy) Bergs, Dr. Joseph (Carrie) Bergs, Carol (Jim) Jilek; her grandchildren, Laura and Vicki Bergs, Teddy and Matthew Bergs, Elizabeth and Kenny Jilek; sisters, Sr. Jolita Brill FSPA, Sr. Clarone Brill FSPA, Rita Sweet; and brother, Joseph Brill; and many other dear relatives and friends. In addition to her dear husband, Bob, who passed away earlier this month, she was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Edward; and sisters, Sr. Clara FSPA and Agnes.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, December 30, 2011, at 11 a.m. at St. Rita’s Catholic Church, 4339 Douglas Ave., with Rev. Kevin Mullins OSA officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy. 32. Mae Etta (Fondren) Martin

Mae Etta Martin passed away Friday, December 23, 2011, at Ridgewood Care Center. She was born on July 12, 1912 in Taylor, MS, daughter of the late West and Idella (Nee: Thompson) Fondren . Mae Etta was united in marriage to Kermit Martin, who preceded her in death in 1991.

Mae Etta was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and fishing.

Survivors are her children; QV (Collie) Tyson of Cleveland, OH, Lillie M. Luster of Indianapolis, IN, Earlie M. Briscoe, Earlene (Wesley) Egerson, Bernice (David) Wilson, Zannie B. Martin, and Frank L Martin, all of Racine. 36 grandchildren, 67 great-grandchildren, 21 great-great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-great-grandchild; sisters-in-law, Mae Helma Mason of Racine, Lillie Martin of Brentwood, CA, and Annie Martin of Taylor, MS; brothers-in-law, Joe E. Martin of Taylor, MS, and Roy Martin of Brentwood, CA; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. Shirley M. (Goetz) Rasmussen

On Friday, December 23, 2011, Shirley M. Rasmussen, surrounded by her loving family, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ whom she so faithfully served for 83 years. Born on June 7, 1928, in Racine, to the late Herbert and Irene (nee:Hybers) Goetz, Shirley was a lifelong resident of Racine.

On October 11, 1947, she was united in marriage to James C Rasmussen, who preceded her in death on April 22. 2001. A lover of cooking and food, Shirley and James owned and operated the Driftwood Restaurant; she later was employed with the Spinning Wheel and Famous Recipe Chicken. She was also employed with Zahn’s Department Store and Brill’s Men Clothing Store.

The ultimate host, Shirley enjoyed all things related to the home including cooking, baking and gardening. She was an avid reader and loved crafts including ceramics, painting, knitting and sewing. A long-time member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Shirley was a tireless steward of the food pantry and also was a “ringer” in the bell choir. In retirement she volunteered with Habit for Humanity, joined Jazzercise, and worked part time at Klema Feeds. Above all, Shirley’s greatest joy was being a wife, mother, grandmother and great Grandmother.

Shirley is survived by her four children, Sandra (George) Alexander, James W Rasmussen, Jodi (Phil) Krembs, and Paul (Shelly) Rasmussen; five grandchildren, Faith (John) Wilson, Ryan (Sharon) Alexander, Amanda Rasmussen, Erin Krembs and Max Krembs; three great-grandchildren, Tyler Wilson, Connor Wilson, and Ashley Wilson;, a sister, Jewel (Ron) Sammis of Taylors, SC; and a sister-in-law, Janet Haigh of Sarasota, Florida; nieces, nephews and other relatives. In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was also preceded in death by her sisters, Joyce Frank and Jean Owen; brother, Herbert Goetz; in –laws, Agnes and Clarence Rasmussen; and brother-in-law, Burton Haigh.

A Memorial service will be held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 725 High St., Thursday, December 29, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Susan Smith officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donation to the food bank at Emanuel Lutheran Church.

The family would like to thank her dear friends Orville and Ginny Brask, Gary Randall and Sue Renquist, and neighbor Steve and Sherry Guziak for their friendship to Shirley, as well as the ICU staff of Wheaton Franciscan All Saints, in particular respiratory therapist Mike Deschler and Physician Iftekhar Bader for their care and concern for Shirley in her final days.

Robert Lee Williams Jr.

Robert Lee Williams Jr., age 43, passed away surrounded by his loving family after a long illness on Thursday, December 22, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. Robert was born in Racine, May 15, 1968, son of Robert L. and Annie R. (Nee: Hunter) Williams.

Robert was employed by Goodwill Industries until the time of his illness. Robert loved spending time with family and friends. He was also a big sports fan. Robert was very cheerful and known for the laugh he had. He will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his son, Joshua; his parents, Annie Williams of Racine, Robert L. (Peggy) Williams Sr. of Racine; sister, Tamela Williams; brothers, Travis Williams, Adrian Williams and Maurice Price, all of Racine; his grandmothers, Janie Hunter and Florida “Bee” Booker; nieces, nephews, and other special relatives and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Brian E. Hunter Sr.

Rita A. (Veselik) Buchholz

Rita A. Buchholz, age 79, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2011, at her residence. Rita was born in Racine, December 20, 1932, daughter of the late Charles and Anne (Nee: Mueller) Veselik.

On August 28, 1954, at St. Rita Catholic Church, she was united in marriage to Wilmer “Willie” L. Buchholz, who preceded her in death on February 4, 2000. Rita was a lifelong and active member of St. Rita Catholic Church. In her younger years she taught at St. Rita School and Burbank Elementary.

Lorraine D. McDaniel

Surrounded by her loving family, Lorraine D. McDaniel, age 85, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 21, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan–All Saints Medical Center. Lorraine was born in Wrightstown, WI, November 21, 1926, daughter of the late William and Catherine (Nee: Van Dyke) Gerrits.

On September 23, 1950, she was united in marriage to Patrick G. McDaniel. Her pastimes included traveling, shopping, golfing and bowling. More than anything she cherished time with her family. She will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her loving husband of sixty-one years, Patrick; her children, Maureen McDaniel of St. Paul, MN, Michael (Laurie) McDaniel of Downers Grove, IL, Kathleen (Duane) Wesenberg of Germantown, Sharon McDaniel of Racine; her grandchildren, Christopher McDaniel, Riley McDaniel, Mason Wesenberg, Hilary Wesenberg, Evan Wesenberg; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Patricia Marie.

Gerald E. Rousar

Gerald E. Rousar, age 80, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2011. He was born in Racine, October 14, 1931, son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Nee: Gagnon) Rousar.

Gerald graduated from Horlick High School, and served in the U.S. Army from 1952 until 1960. On October 25, 1952, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, he was united in marriage to Dolores Langenfeld, who preceded him in death on May 10, 2008. Gerald was well known in the commercial fishing community. He co-owned and operated Strege and Rousar Fisheries and The Fish Joynt. He retired in 1986 and then worked at Metzger’s and most recently at IC&A. Gerald was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Throughout the years he built his own boats including The Pride I and Pride II. Gerald enjoyed spending time at his cottage in the northwoods of Wisconsin for many years. He will be dearly missed.

Surviving are his children, Joseph (Judith) Rousar, MaryAnn (Harley) Bresnahan, Michael John Rousar; grandchildren, Elysia, Ashley and Hailey Rousar, Sarah Bresnahan and Rory (Inbal) Bresnahan; great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Eliav Bresnahan; a brother, Richard (Betty) Rousar; a sister, Karen Rosera; other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 1533 Erie St., with Rev. Sean Granger officiating. Entombment with full military honors will follow at Holy Cross Garden Mausoleum, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Tuesday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass. Gary R. Felski Sr.

Gary R. Felski Sr., age 81, passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2011, at the Becker-Shoop Center. Gary was born in Milwaukee, WI, on May 20, 1930, son of the late Walter and Agnes (Nee: Gaber) Felski.

On February 18, 1956, at St. Helen Catholic Church of Milwaukee, he was united in marriage to Kathleen M. Jeske. He was employed with the Teamsters for many years and previously at Wisconsin Motors. Gary was an active member and volunteer at St. Rita Catholic Church. A huge Packer fan, Gary also enjoyed taking long walks, body building, and had a great love for animals. He cherished time spent with his family and will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his loving wife, Kathleen; his six children, Gary Felski Jr., Kenneth (Cele) Felski, Brian Felski, Dean Felski, Jolene (Tony) Davis, Lisa (Daniel) Toler; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Vivian (Richard) Chybowski, Diane Koenig, MaryAnn Peters, Charlotte Emerick; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by ten siblings.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at 10 a.m. at St. Rita Catholic Church, 4339 Douglas Ave., with Rev. Kevin Mullins OSA officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Tuesday at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and Wednesday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family have been suggested.

Ruth Givens (Yarbrough, Givens) Gausche

Ruth Givens Gausche, age 87, passed away Monday, December 19, 2011 at Kindred Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Kenosha, WI. Ruth was born in Savannah, Georgia, December 13, 1924, to James and Matilda (Nee: Kelly) Yarbrough. Ruth’s mother died when she was six weeks old. She had thirteen biological brothers and sisters and was adopted by Louis O. and Frankie (Nee: VanBrackle) Givens.

Ruth attended secretarial high school and worked at Hunter AAFB, where she met her future husband, Vyant E. Gausche. On June 20, 1944, in Bloomingdale, Georgia, she was united in marriage to Vy, who preceded her in death on January 13, 1975. She was also employed by J.C. Penney and Geo W. Morris Metal Stamping. Ruth was a member of Christ Church United Methodist and the Eastern Star Society OES #45. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her sons, Charles Louis (Renee) Gausche, David Earl (Jean) Gausche; four grandchildren, Mary Kathern John, Charles Frederick Gausche, Dr. Eric David (Dr. Sheetal) Gausche, Michelle Marie (Brian) Van Schyndel; four great-grandchildren, Tyler Christopher John, Maren Jean Van Schyndel, Kent Brian Van Schyndel, Jensen David Van Schyndel; other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her husband, Vy, she was preceded in death by her biological parents, James and Matilda Yarbrough; her adoptive parents, Louis and Frankie Givens; two adopted sisters, Lois and Elizabeth Givens.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 22, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Mark Swanson officiating. Interment will follow at Mound Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Thursday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Memorials to the American Diabetes Association or to one's favorite charity have been suggested.

Jimmie Lee Ward Sr.

Jimmie Lee Ward Sr., age 71, passed away peacefully surrounded by family after a long illness, Monday, December 19, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center. Jimmie was the son of the late Clifton and Mattie Ward. He was born in Quitman, MS, on December 9, 1940, and moved to Racine at the age of nine years old.

Jimmie was educated in the Racine school system. He graduated from Gateway Technical College, where he learned the trade as an electrician. Jimmie was the marble champion of Racine as a teen and represented Racine, WI, in New York where he placed 3rd. He was baptized at Greater St. Luke’s Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor E.E. Woods. Jimmie was employed by Racine Steel Castings as an electrician for forty years. He was a member of the “20 Year Club” at Racine Steel and member of UAW Local #553. Jimmie enjoyed listening to the blues, family gatherings, going to the track and playing the lottery.

On July 9, 1966, JImmie married the love of his life, the former Eliza Johnson. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of forty-five years, Eliza; six children, Tommie (Sequendalyn) Johnson, Mary (Troy) Beadles, all of OK, Jeanette Brown of MS, Jimmie Lee Ward Jr. of IA, Joyce Ward, Marsha Holloway, both of Racine; three brothers, Johnny Ray, LeRoy and Allen Ward, all of Racine; sister, Rosemary (Henry) Townes of PA; eighteen grandchildren, Antinique, Alexander, Tiara, Mario, Austin, Troy, Maurice, Tiffany, Jimmal, Jimmesha, Jimmie, Dequan, Maria, Justice, Moesha, M’Neisha, Michael and Isaac; eight great-grandchildren; special nephews, Bobby and Joseph; and a host of other relatives and friends. Longtime friends, Enus, Sam and Tom; Aunt Essie Nelson of MS. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Cliff and Joe Curtis; sisters, Vera, Betty and Dorothy; niece, Sherryl; great-niece and nephew, Brandy and Shante.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 23, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Greater St. Luke’s Baptist Church, 1326 State St., with Rev. A.W. Scaife officiating. Marjorie Lois Holtje (Kitt) Wiersum

Viera, Florida - We celebrate the life of Marjorie Lois Wiersum, a lover of God, family, friends, cooking, and piano, who was called home to heaven last week on Monday, December 19, 2011.

Born and raised in Racine on April 15, 1927, Marjorie spent her last days in Viera, Florida near family, where she died of dementia and other complications. Her life was marked by joy, laughter, prayer and music. She was known as a gracious host, and took pleasure in entertaining friends and family for meals whenever possible. Renowned for her fabulous baking and hilarious storytelling, Marjorie was well-loved by all and truly loved others well.

Marjorie was an active member of Racine Bible Church until illness set in. In the past, her love of children led her to teach kindergarten at Union Grove Christian School and also to teach piano lessons out of her home for many years.

Marjorie is survived by her two sons and their families: Phil (Jamie) Holtje and Steve (Christine) Holtje; and grandchildren, Melissa Richeson, Celeste Ralston and Jordan Holtje. She was predeceased by her husbands, Hudson Holtje and Clyde Wiersum, and several dear friends who will gladly meet her in heaven.

Marjorie’s sparkle, charm, and devotion will be missed here on earth, but we rejoice that she is without a doubt in the presence of Jesus now.

Funeral services will be held at Racine Bible Church, Thursday, December 29, 2011, at 6:30 p.m. Private interment will be held at Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to Racine Bible Church, 12505 Spring St., Sturtevant, WI 53177.

Ronald A. Killips

Ron went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, December 16, 2011, following a courageous 10-year battle with cancer. Ronald Allen Killips was born in Racine on 4-4-44, son of the late Lester and Jeanette (Nee: Dahms) Killips.

Ron had been employed by Young Radiator for nearly 30 years before they closed. He then worked at InSinkErator and most recently at JSA Engineering. On April 23, 1982, he was united to Gretchen M. Russo. Ron was a member of Faith Community Church. He enjoyed hot rods, drag racing, drawing and working on his yard. He was very handy and was always there willing to lend a helping hand. Caring for his grandsons was his greatest joy. He will be dearly missed.

Surviving are his wife, Gretchen; his daughter, Bobbi (David) Hauser; his son, Scott Allen Killips (Candi Darlington); his beloved grandsons, Larry Allen and Robert Allen Killips; brothers and sisters, Leroy Killips, Gordon Killips, David Killips, Linda Killips, Sandy Johnson, Debra Killips; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Carol (Keith) Wuenstel, Stephen Russo, Jane Chiappetta, Thomas (Sherry) Russo; other relatives and friends.

Donna C. (Reed) Gonzales

Donna Carlene Gonzales, age 64, passed away Thursday, December 15, 2011, at Froedtert Memorial Hospital. She was born in Oakland City, IN, on October 7, 1947, daughter of Lawrence and Betty (Nee: Johnson) Reed.

On September 23, 1973, in Waukegan, IL, she was united in marriage to Joseph L. Gonzales. Donna was an avid bingo player and enjoyed watching softball. She cherished time spent with her grandson and her many nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed.

Surviving are her husband, Joseph; daughters, Carlena Gonzales, Angela Gonzales (Shakenya); a grandson, Brandon Gonzales; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, Robert (Kellie) Gonzales, Margaret (Mario) Carreno, Violetta Gonzales, Santos “Tito” (Paula) Ocacio, Mary Ramos, Jose (Lataunga) Gonzales, Charles Ocacio, Ricardo (Esther) Ocacio, Lena Londono, Josie (David) Martinez; sister-in-law, Sandy Gonzales; her loving nieces and nephews, other relatives, the Marquez family, special friends, Vivian Owens, Deanea Guenther, Kim Kohel, Carmen Ward and dear friends. Jeanne Marie Gallo

Jeanne Marie Gallo, age 56, passed away at her residence on Thursday, December 15, 2011. Jeanne was born in Racine, August 30, 1955, daughter of David and Romona (nee: Zeihen) Gallo.

Jeanne graduated from JI Case High School “Class of 1973.” She was employed with Acme Die Castings for twenty five years. She enjoyed making jewelry, participating in craft shows, shopping and going to the movies with her grandkids, Dakota and Angelina. She adored her grand-dog, Taco. Above all, Jeanne loved her time spent with her family, especially her daughter, Sarah, and her family. She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her daughter, Sarah (Nick) Sime; grandchildren, Dakota and Angelina; parents, David and Romona Gallo; brother, Dan (Anne) Gallo; nephew and niece, Nick (Angela) Gallo, Nathalie (Ryan) King; special friend, Doreen Panosh; aunts and uncles, Don and Eloise Karkow, Gerry and Pat Gallo, Esther Gallo, Rog and Romayne Zeihen, and Bill David; many cousins and other relatives. Roberta Jean Vanderhoef

Surrounded by her loving family, following a courageous battle with cancer, Roberta Jean Vanderhoef passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2011, at her residence. Roberta was born in Racine, July 18, 1952, daughter of Willis F. and Ruth M. (Nee: Verbeten) Vanderhoef.

Roberta was a graduate of St. Rita’s Grade School and William Horlick High School “Class of 1972.” She was employed by Racine Screen for over twenty years and most recently at St. Rita C.A.R.E.S. She enjoyed being around children, especially her nieces and nephews. She was a longtime and active member of St. Rita Catholic Church and the Joyful Noise Choir. Roberta also belonged to the Brothertown Indian Nation and Circle C Camper Club. Very talented and artistic, Roberta enjoyed sewing, crafting, making beautiful Christmas ornaments, and was an avid doll collector. She will be deeply missed.

Nick Anthony Comande

Nick Anthony Comande passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, December 14, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 1, 1925, in Racine, where he lived his entire life and attended Horlick High School. While working for Modine Manufacturing, he met his wife, Isabelle Draeger, and they were married on July 16, 1949.

He was employed with Modine Mfg. for 22 years and for 27 years as the President of Shoreline Manor, a home dedicated to providing sheltered care to those with mental illnesses. He retired in 2001.

He was very active in civic affairs, including serving as home secretary for Congressman Gerald T. Flynn and as a longtime friend and supporter of U.S. Representative Paul Ryan. He worked on the campaigns of President John F. Kennedy, presidential candidate Hubert Humphrey, Senator Gaylord Nelson and Representative Les Aspin. He was also an avid supporter of various local politicians, including County Executives Dennis Kornwolf, William McReynolds and Jim Ladwig and Sheriff Bob Rohner. He was actively involved in Sacred Heart Church, Roma Lodge, the Wednesday Optimist Club, the Italian Community Center of Milwaukee, and the Democratic Party.

Nick is survived by his wife, Isabelle Comande; four children, Suzanne (Gary) Campbell of Racine, Patricia (Thomas) Isaacson of Racine, Nicholas (Lisa) Comande of Racine, Elizabeth (Randal) Marvin of Franksville; and a brother-in-law, Dominic LoPiccolo of Elkhorn. He was a loving grandfather to six grandchildren, Edward (Yolanda) Campbell of Bellflower, Calif., Andrew (Holly) Isaacson of Eden Prairie, Minn., Benjamin (Jenelle) Isaacson of Kenosha, Amanda Marvin of Racine, Anthony Marvin of Decatur, Ga., and Rachel Comande of Racine; and five great-grandchildren, Ella, Lily and Kellan Isaacson of Eden Prairie, Minn.; Eliana Isaacson of Kenosha; and Patrick Michel of Bellflower, Calif. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Frances (Fabiano) Comande, six siblings, Sarah Comande, Josephine (Joseph) LoPiccolo, Rose (Walter) Kozich, Augustus (Lee) Comande, Anna (James) Marino, Victoria LoPiccolo; and two nephews, David and James Marino.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, December 19, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2201 Northwestern Ave., with Rev. Ronald O. Crewe officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Gerald 'Jerry' P. Opahle

Gerald “Jerry” P. Opahle, age 89, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center. Jerry was born in Racine, March 8, 1922, son of the late Joseph and Anne (Nee: Dresen) Opahle.

Jerry served in the United States Army in the European Theatre of War. On January 5, 1943, in Odessa, Texas, he was united in marriage to Marie B. Gross, who preceded him in death on March 1, 2010. Jerry was employed by Precise Products for twenty-nine years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church. Jerry enjoyed woodworking and yard work. Above all he was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be dearly missed.

Lottie K. (Brunnelson) Johnson

Surrounded by her loving family, Lottie K. Johnson, age 68, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2011, at her residence. Lottie was born on Valentine’s Day in Racine, February 14, 1943, daughter of the late Charles J. and Mildred J. (Nee: Hughes) Brunnelson.

On December 27, 1977, she was united in marriage to Terry M. Johnson. She was an active and longtime member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church and Altar Guild. Her pastimes included golfing, knitting and sewing. She cherished time spent with her family and was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her loving husband of thirty-three years, Terry M. Johnson; her children, Vickie L. Bouwma, Richard F. Johnson; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Charles (Sharon) Brunnelson, Theodore (Jan) Brunnelson, David Brunnelson, Byron Brunnelson, Carol Bressett; sister-in-law, Nyla Brunnelson; brother-in-law, Noel (Doris) Johnson; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. Farrell Joan Keenan

Mt. Pleasant -- Mrs. Farrell J. (nee: Jensen) Keenan, 81, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan Hospital on Monday, December 12, 2011.

She was born in Racine to the late William S. and Anna (nee: Vetrock) Jensen on April 9, 1930, and had lived most of her life in Racine. She was united in marriage to LeRoy B. Keenan on October 30, 1954, at Second Presbyterian Church in Racine. She was a graduate of William Horlick High School and had been employed at Hamilton Beach and Professional Positioners. At Professional Positioners, she had been a Dental Lab Technician before her retirement in 1992.

Farrell was a longtime member of Racine Bible Church where she was very active in church activities, especially Sunday school, the Nursery, and as a volunteer for AWANA. She was devoted to her family, and enjoyed spending time with her children and friends. She was a member of the sewing club for over 65 years and loved Sunday rides to the Windpoint Lighthouse, rummage sales and camping.

She will be dearly missed by her husband of 57 years, LeRoy B. Keenan; two daughters, Kim Davis, Joan (Mark) Schaefer; one step-daughter, Lynn Landish; five grandchildren, James (Kristen) Davis, Bennett (Ashley) Davis, Brieann (Dana) Clausing, Ian Schaefer and Owen Schaefer; five great-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren, Jacob and Alyssa Clausing, Jak and Gage Davis, James M. Dorothy M. (Bauer) Vollendorf

Surrounded by her loving family, Dorothy M. Vollendorf, age 84, passed away Sunday, December 11, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan–All Saints Medical Center. Dorothy was born in Racine, April 4, 1927, daughter of the late Frank and Margaret (Nee: Hartweg) Bauer.

On July 12, 1947, at St. Rose Catholic Church she was united in marriage to Francis J. Vollendorf, who preceded her in death on January 23, 2010. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Daughters of Isabella. Dorothy was employed as a waitress for many years at Kilbourn Gardens. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her children, Thomas (Carole) Vollendorf, Robert (Robin) Vollendorf, Mary Burza; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Aileen Heide and Louise Busarow; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Thomas Burza; and brother, Donald (Elaine) Bauer.

Valerie A. (Valade) Klinkhammer

Valerie A. Klinkhammer, age 53, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, December 10, 2011, at her residence. Valerie was born in Kankakee, IL, on May 29, 1958, daughter of the late William R. and Dara D. (Nee: Day) Valade.

Valerie was a graduate of Walden High School. A decorator at heart, Valerie loved flower arranging and enjoyed cleaning. As of late, Valerie was excited to be in a position to purchase a condo with a second bedroom in hopes to have her daughter, Kelley, stay with her and renew that important mother-daughter bond.

Survivors include her daughter, Kelley Ann Klinkhammer; her brothers, John Leyendecker, Mark Valade; her sister, Julie (John) Dykstra; eight nieces and nephews; other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her father, William Valade’s death in 1987, Valerie was preceded in death by her mother, Dara Valade, and her dear brother, Vance Valade, this past summer. She was also preceded in death by her niece, Jessica LeRett.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 16, 2011, at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Deacon Russell Missureli officiating. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Charlotte (Goller) Stetka

Charlotte Stetka, 81, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, December 10, 2011, surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Arnegg, Germany, on October 5, 1930, daughter of the late Lorenz and Frida (Nee: Buck) Goller.

Charlotte was united in marriage to Alex Stetka on October 23, 1954, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Racine. Alex passed away June 25, 2004, after nearly fifty years together. She was employed by Unique Drapery for many years. She loved her travels to Europe, dancing, sewing and spending time with family and friends. She will be dearly missed. On August 16, 2008, Charlotte was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Cotter of Racine.

Surviving are her husband Bob Cotter; daughter, Charlotte Keller; son, Steve (Katie) Stetka; grandchildren, Kelly (Bill) Boyer, Christopher Smith, Jennifer Bond, Jordan Stetka; four great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Donald; and her brother, Otto Buck.

John Joseph LaRosa

John J. LaRosa, 69, passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2011, at Froedert Memorial Hospital in Milwaukee.

John was born in Milwaukee on December 14, 1941, to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph A. LaRosa. He lived most of his life in the Milwaukee area before coming to Racine in 1985.

John had been employed as a driver for Zizzo’s Trucking Company for over 23 years. His favorite hobby was playing “scratch off” tickets. He also enjoyed working on things around the house and loved to work with tools. But most of all, he loved his children and grandchildren.

John will be dearly missed by his daughter, Heidi (Shawn Slater) LaRosa; son, Joseph LaRosa; two grandchildren Richard and Grace; sister, Fay (Michael) Coerper; brother, Jeff (Rocky) LaRosa; close friends, the Zizzo family; and family pet, Rocky “Horse.”

A memorial gathering in honor of John will be held at Wilson Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 14, 2011, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Brenda Joyce Barker

Brenda Joyce Barker, 57, passed away Monday, December 7, 2011, at her residence. Brenda was born in Racine WI, on May 17, 1954, to Hubert Sonny Barker and Magnolia Maggie (nee: Morris) Barker.

Brenda was employed by General Converter Assembly for ten years and by Old Country Buffet Restaurant for three years. Brenda was preceded in death by her father, Hubert “Sonny” Barker; her mother, Magnolia “Maggie” (nee: Morris) Barker; her grandparents; her grandson, Melvin T. Bumpus III; aunts and uncles, Charlie Morris Jr., Joe and Edna Morris, Margerie Morris, Catharine and Leo Richards; and cousin, Shirley Robinson.

Richard 'Dick' W. Steberl

Surrounded by his loving family, Richard “Dick” W. Steberl, age 82, passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2011, at his residence. Dick was born in Racine, January 27, 1929, son of the late Frank and Harriet (Nee: Westenberg) Steberl.

Dick was a graduate of William Horlick High School “Class of 1947.” On September 4, 1948, in Racine, he was united in marriage to Marie I. Bronson, who preceded him in death on May 28, 1990. He served with the United States Army in the I Corps as a lineman for two years, stationed in Uijeongbu, Korea. He considered it an honor to serve. Dick was employed by Porter's of Racine for fifty-six years; and considered his co-workers a second family. He retired in 1999. On June 12, 1993, he married Mary E. Terselic (Nee: Ludwig). He was a member of St. Richard Catholic Church. Dick loved cooking, fixing things, and enjoyed collecting fine clocks and watches. He will be dearly missed.

Genevieve Marion Kuklinski

Fort Myers, FL – Mrs. Genevieve M. Kuklinski, 94, passed away at Hope Hospice in Lehigh Acres, Florida on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 (Pearl Harbor Day).

Genevieve was born in Milwaukee on November 27, 1917, to Paul and Mary (nee: Iglar) Moherek, and lived in Racine most of her life.

Genevieve worked as a beautician for many years, first in Milwaukee and then in Racine up until she retired in 1952 to start her family. Genevieve was an active member of St Edward Catholic Church. Her late husband, John Kuklinski Sr., co-owned and managed the Eagle Hotel with Genevieve’s two brothers, the late Emil and Rudy Moherek. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, traveling and playing with her five doggies and loved being with family.

Surviving are her three children: John Jr. and his wife, Susan Kuklinski of Alabama, Jean and her husband, Don Kotara of Florida, and James who is living currently in El Salvador; grandchildren, Jennifer, Andrew and Alex Kuklinski, all of Alabama, Tanya Hale-Sapp and Carl (Bo) Hale of Florida, and M’hadji Idari Ali of the Comoros Islands; one great-grandchild, Hunter Sapp of Florida; one sister-in-law, Adell Moherek of Florida; and many nieces, nephews and cousins in Wisconsin, New Jersey, Florida, Illinois and Poland.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Edward Catholic Church on Thursday morning, December 15, 2011, at 11 a.m. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery on Highway 32. Ronald 'Ron' H. Ferg

Surrounded by his loving family, Ronald H. Ferg, age 78, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan–All Saints Medical Center. Ron was born March 30, 1933, in Racine, son of the late Harold E. and Loretta M. (Nee: Slafter) Ferg.

Ron proudly served in the United States Army stationed in Japan from 1953-1955. On June 22, 1957, at St. Rose Catholic Church he was united in marriage to Mardell F. Waters. Ron was employed with Hamilton Beach for fifteen years and retired from In-Sink-Erator after thirty-five years of service. He was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church. An outdoorsman, Ron enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and his time spent in Shawano and Canada. He was also an avid fan of the Packers and Badgers. More than anything, he cherished his family and will be deeply missed.

Susan Marie Obernberger, age 46, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2011, at her residence. She was born in Racine on July 28, 1965, daughter of Ronald and Sara (Nee: Halvorson) Obernberger.

Susan graduated from J.I. Case High School "Class of 1983."

Eva M. (Giacinti) Smerchek

Eva M. Smerchek, age 97, passed away Monday, December 5, 2011, at Ridgewood Care Center. Eva was born in Racine, October 14, 1914, daughter of the late Raffaele and Ermelinda (Nee: Pagliari) Giacinti.

Eva was united in marriage to Ernest J. Smerchek who preceded her in death on Valentine’s Day in 1970. She and her husband farmed in Caledonia for over fifty years. Eva served as member and past President of Vittoria Colonna, President and “Woman of the Year” of the former Caledonia Woman’s Club, and was a former 4-H leader. For many years she enjoyed volunteering at St. Mary’s Hospital, Opportunity Center, and Career Industries. Eva lived a life of service to others, always caring for family and friends when in need. She will be dearly missed.

Adeline A. (Masik) Bergemann

Surrounded by her loving family, Adeline A. Bergemann, age 94, passed away Sunday, December 4, 2011, at St. Joseph’s Home and Rehabilitation Center, Kenosha, WI. Adeline was born in Racine, May 16, 1917, daughter of the late Ignatius and Mary F. (Nee: Simanek) Masik.

Adeline was a graduate of St. Agnes School of Nursing in Fond du Lac, WI. On February 2, 1946, at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church she was united in marriage to Walter A. Bergemann, who preceded her in death on January 10, 2009.

She was employed as a Registered Nurse for many years at St. Mary’s Hospital. Adeline was a member of St. Mary’s by the Lake Catholic Church. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Adeline cherished time with her family. She will be dearly missed.

Jane L. Nyiri-Jones

Midlothian, Va. -- Jane L. Nyiri-Jones, age 62, passed away peacefully, Sunday, December 4, 2011, at her residence. Jane was born to Stephen and Dolores “Jeanne” (Née: Sherman) Nyiri in Racine, WI, April 5, 1949.

Jane attended St. Joseph Catholic School and graduated from St. Catherine’s High School “Class of 1967.” Moving to the Washington, DC, area in 1970, Jane furthered her education and graduated with a degree in business and horticulture from Virginia State College. She was initially employed by the FBI and later by New York Life and sales with Pinkerton Tobacco Company where she was awarded top sales manager. Gardening was very therapeutic for Jane. She shared her floral creations with the Cancer House, neighbors and friends. A survivor herself, Jane also enjoyed volunteering with cancer patients in Hospice. She was dearly loved and will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her parents, Stephen and Jeanne; Aunt Helen and Chester Leskowicz; cousins, many friends in Virginia and Racine. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, December 17, 2011, at noon at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1533 Erie St., with Rev. Sean Granger officiating. Private interment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet at the church Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of Mass. Dana Alyss Mekhsian

Milwaukee - Dana A. Mekhsian, 23, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 3, 2011, at her residence in Milwaukee.

Dana was born in Racine on February 9, 1988, to Arakel and Debra (nee: Howarth) Mekhsian. She was a graduate of Washington Park High School and lived in Racine until she moved to Milwaukee to attend the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Dana attended Grace Lutheran Church and when she lived in Milwaukee she attended other churches with her friends. In college, she participated as student teacher's assistant for her Bachelor's Degree in Education.

Dana was a free spirit, laughing out loud with a kind smile and a goofy sense of humor. She was an honest soul and did not have any pretense about her. Dana was always able to give encouragement to family and
friends. She could always make her Grampa smile.

Dana will always be loved and missed by her parents, Arakel and Debra Mekhsian; one brother, Erik Mekhsian; her maternal grandmother, Lorraine Howarth; her aunts and uncles, Sherry (Mark) Gertenbach and their children, Adam, Ryan, Greg and Jennifer; Harout (Maral) Mekhsian and Salpi (Hovhannes) Tokatlian; and many other cousins, other relatives and friends. Dana was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, LeRoy "Bud" Howarth on February 19, 2010, and her paternal grandparents, Nishan (Baydsar) Mekhsian.

Funeral services in memory of Dana will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home on Saturday, December 10, 2011, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Thomas Chryst officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family on Friday evening, December 9, 2011, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Saturday morning, December 10, 2011, from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
