Judith Ann (Sheets) Wilkens

Judith Ann Wilkens passed away on Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at the age of 64 after a four-year courageous battle with cancer. Judy was born in Milwaukee on January 27, 1946, daughter of the late Harold and Virginia (nee: Hartel) Sheets.

She was married for 38 years to her beloved husband, Henry John. She was the proud and loving mother of two children, Jeffrey (Colleen) Wilkens of Wauwatosa and Elizabeth Wilkens of Gurnee, IL. She had three precious grandchildren who were lights in her life: Sydney, Wesley and Delaney Wilkens of Wauwatosa. Judy is also survived by her dear sisters, Sally (Dave) Delp of Racine and Kathy (Michael) Maloney of Neptune Beach, FL; as well as nieces and nephews, Bill Delp of Milwaukee and Peter, Meghan, Allison and Lauren Maloney of Neptune Beach, FL. In her lifetime Judy had many wonderful friends, especially Debbie, Jeannette, Mary Jo, Sharron and Jean.

Judy was employed by Johnson Bank for over twenty years, retiring in 2006. She made many dear friends throughout her time with the bank and cherished each and every one of them. Her biggest love and joy was golfing. She was an active member of the Johnson Park Women’s Golf League…you always knew where to find Judy. She attended St. John Nepomuk Grade School, St. Catherine’s High School “Class of 1964,” and graduated from St. Norbert College in 1968 with a degree in Sociology. She was an active member at St. John Nepomuk Church for many years and served on the Parish Council, Finance Committee, as a Eucharistic Minister and Lector. In the more recent years she had become a member at St. Rita Church.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at 11 a.m. at St. Rita Catholic Church, 4339 Douglas Ave., with Rev. Joseph G. Stobba OSA officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Monday at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and Tuesday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of Mass at 11 a.m.  Memorials to the American Cancer Society or to Hospice Alliance have been suggested.

The family extends their gratitude to Dr. Mullane and the staff at Oncology Alliance as well as the physicians and staff at Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin for their world-class care over the years. They truly helped Judy to have more quality time with her family. We would like to offer special thanks to staff of Hospice Alliance in the recent weeks, most notably Leti, Jackie, Terry and Karla. They all were of particular comfort to Judy and her family through her arduous journey.
