Rafael Cruz Lagunas

Rafael Cruz Lagunas, age 81, passed away Thursday, June 3, 2010, at his residence. Rafael was born in Michoacan, Mexico, March 1, 1929, son of the late Victor and Mercedes (Nee: Cruz) Lagunas.

Rafael moved to Racine in 1996 after his son was in an accident. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. He was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his eight children, Anita (Miguel) Ayala, Guillermo Lagunas, Victor Lagunas, Rafael (Linda) Lagunas, Jose Lagunas, Matilda (Martin) Reyes, Daniel (Maribel) Lagunas, Javier Lagunas (Maria Jimenez); 25 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at 5 p.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1100 Erie St., with Rev. Esteban Redolad officiating. Interment will be held in Michoacan, Mexico. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Tuesday at the church from 3 p.m. until time of Mass at 5 p.m.  Memorials to the family have been suggested.
