Mario “Mitch” G. Covelli, age 87, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2013, at Ridgewood Care Center. Mario was born in Chicago, IL, on July 2, 1925, son of the late Louis and Lousia (Nee: Bartelli) Covelli.
Survivors include his sister, Helen Covelli; sister-in-law, Sue Metzger of Racine; many loving nieces and nephews, Joanne Barranco of Racine, Carol (William) Haigh of Gilbert, AZ, Patricia Robash, Mark (Terri) Barranco of Racine; great-nieces and nephews, Jennifer (JR) Couch of Chandler, AZ, Jon (Colleen) Robash of Milwaukee, Jamie Robash of Chicago, Joseph (Madelyn) Barranco of Racine, Jacqueline (Richard) Beere of Racine, Anthony Barranco of Kenosha, Ashley Robash (Jordan Hulsey) of Racine; three great-great-nieces and nephews, Taryn, Ally, Jack and Thurston; other relatives and dear friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother and sisters, Jasper (Irene) Covelli, Sarah (Rodger) Wember, Ida (Ben) Ponizo, Anna Marie Covelli; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Joe (Charlotte) Barranco, Ben (Rose) Metzger, Fred (Mary) Metzger, Albert (Viola) Metzger, and Edward Metzger.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 3, 2013, at 6 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1533 Erie St., with Rev. Stephen Varghese officiating. Interment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Friday at the church from 5 p.m. until time of Mass at 6 p.m. Memorials to St. Joseph Catholic Church have been suggested.
