Marjorie L. 'Marge' (Hanson) Salbreiter

Marjorie L. “Marge” Salbreiter passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, April 11, 2012, at Ridgewood Care Center.  Marjorie was born in Racine on July 3, 1917, daughter of the late Hans and Eleanora (nee: Lueckfeld) Hanson.

On October 30, 1945, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Marge was married to the love of her life, Norbert F. Salbreiter.  They shared over forty-five beautiful years together before Norb’s passing on November 26, 1991. In her younger years, she was employed with Webster Electric and, later, she and Norb owned and operated Racine Diaper service and Tots and Teens children’s clothing store in Elmwood Plaza until their retirement.  A great athlete, Marge enjoyed the camaraderie that came from playing baseball, playing in the women’s golf leagues at Shoop Park and Washington Park and her bowling leagues.  She also liked cribbage, knitting, crocheting and cross-stitching. Above all, it was her family that truly gave her the most joy.  She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her children, Jo Ann (Ted) Noll, Kathy (Lou) Chavez, Jack (Debbie) Salbreiter, Mary Ann Wilkinson (Steve Bates), Bill (Diane) Salbreiter;  12 grandchildren, Ted (Sandy) Noll Jr., Michelle Noll, Christine Strutz, Jared (Darlene) Salbreiter, Daniel (Dawn) Salbreiter, Courtney Chavez, Louie (Sarah) Chavez Jr, Stephanie Chavez, Lindsay (Chad) Sloden, Jennafer Burt, Bill Salbreiter, Bob Salbreiter; 11 great-grandchildren; nieces, Adeline (Ed) Stuebe, LaVerne Thurman; cousins, Karen Jim (Karen) Dexter, Jean Arnold; best friend, Chris Solberg; other relatives and friends.  In addition to her parents and her husband, Marge was also preceded in death by her sisters, Dorothy Hanson and Viola Nelson; and her niece, Carol Schneider.

Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home Tuesday from 5:30 p.m. until time of service at 7:30 p.m., with Rev. Steve Varghese officiating.  Private entombment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to Ridgewood Care Center Activities Dept, c/o Krista Kennedy have been suggested.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to those at Ridgewood Care Center who gave Marge such loving and compassionate care. The family also thanks the staff at St. Monica’s for their prior care.
