Paul Stuht
Paul Stuht, age 69, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 29, 2013. He was born September 10, 1944, in Munising, Michigan, son of the late Vernon and Maxine (Nee: Pangborn) Stuht.
He was a graduate of Mathers High School and attended Northern Michigan University. He was a dedicated employee of S.C. Johnson Wax for forty-five years, retiring in 2010. He was an avid sports fan who especially enjoyed the Packers and coaching his kids' softball and baseball teams.
His charismatic personality, quick wit, keen intellect and perspective on what is important in life, were among his most endearing qualities. A loyal and valued friend to many, Paul loved family, friends, and good long conversations. When it came to relationships Paul was generous. Their home was the center of activity as they hosted countless pig roasts and other parties to mark significant milestones in the lives of their friends and family.
He was immensely proud of his children and grandchildren and loved to share news of their latest accomplishments. Paul forever loved the U.P. -- “God’s country”, as he called it -- where his ashes will be spread and his spirit will remain.
Survivors include his wife, Janet (Standiford) Stuht; children, Brian Stuht (Heather Beasy), Michael Stuht, Abby (Justin) Schilz; grandchildren, Austin Ishman, Paul Stuht, Joseph Stuht, Thomas and Coen Schilz, Mira Stuht, Isabella and Olivia Gosda; siblings, John (Carol) Stuht and twin sister Pauline McNutt; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Charles Standiford, Susan Lumia, Sheila (Chuck) Wittkowski, Judith Peterson, Marcia Standiford (Ken) Ferencek; other relatives and dear friends.

He was born on May 10, 1931, son of the late Anna (Habelter) Schlaffer and James Schlaffer. On April 21, 1955, he married the love of his life, Jacqueline, at St. John Nepomuk Church.

He then started at the City Clerk’s Office in City Hall of Racine. He became Deputy City Clerk on January 1, 1970, and City Clerk from January 1, 1978, until he retired in 1990.
Tony enjoyed walking, exercising, traveling, dancing, bowling, gambling and playing cards. In his later years, he also enjoyed meeting friends at a local Racine diner, Yuni’s Avenue Café, several times a week. Above all, Tony was a family man – he enjoyed spending time with his wife and his son.
Tony leaves behind his cherished wife, Jacqueline Lou (Klein) Schlaffer (also of Racine), of almost 59 years. He leaves behind an only child, James Anthony Schlaffer, 53, of Racine (who became his daily, on-going caregiver until the very end). Tony came from a family of eight other siblings, all of whom have passed except his sister, Anne Heidenreich, of Racine. A Memorial Service/private burial will be held at Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Town of Dover, at a later date. The family (at their discretion) has asked for money, in lieu of flowers, for them to use and to donate to their choice of charities.
It is very important to Jackie and Jim to thank all the healthcare providers, including the various doctors and office personnel, the Wheaton-Franciscan nurses (making house calls), the Wheaton-Franciscan Hospice nurses and aides (in and out of their home) and the Wheaton-Franciscan hospital staff at the very end. They would like to thank Suzanne at the Veterans' office (Racine) for all her help and consultations. Most importantly, Jackie and Jim would like to thank their closest friends for all their love, help, and support!
