Francis C. 'Frank' Toutant

Francis C. “Frank" Toutant, age 95, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2013, at his residence.  He was born in Hancock, Michigan, on October 30, 1917, son of the late Donald J. and Harriet (nee: Geist )Toutant.

In 1939, Frank was united in marriage to Helen Olson, who preceded him in death in 1978.  Frank was a jack of all trades. He was a self-employed contractor for many years. He started out working with his father as a carpenter/contractor, went on to work at J.I. Case Co. and retired from Twin Disc after twenty years.  In his early years Frank enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He also loved to go dancing and tending to his garden.  Following retirement, he took up bowling six times a week right up until he passed away.  Frank was a regular patron of the Plaza Lanes.  He was a very charismatic man who enjoyed telling jokes and stories.  He was dearly loved and will be sadly missed.

Surviving are his loving and constant companion, Phyllis Heinen; his children, William (MaryAnn) Toutant, Judith (Dave) Nielsen, Terry (Lorrie) Toutant; grandchildren, Scott (Wendy)Toutant, Daniel (Julie) Toutant, Lisa (Chris) Yeagle, Michelle (Curt) Johnson, Dennis (Stacey) Nielsen, Jason Toutant, Andrew Toutant; great-grandchildren, Buxton, Juneau and Daelyn Toutant, Erica (Brandon) Verwey, Luke and Mitchell Toutant, Grant, Blake, Elise and Magen Johnson, David and  Makayla Nielsen; a great-great-granddaughter, Mia Verwey;  sisters-in-law, Harriet Olson and Irene Olson; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.  In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by five sisters, two brothers, two sister-in-laws and four brother-in-laws.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 17, 2013, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., when a funeral service will follow with Reverend Antony Thomas officiating. Interment  will be at Graceland Cemetery.  Memorials to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church or one’s favorite charity have been suggested.
