Joan A. (Myszkowski) Statz

Surrounded by her loving family, Joan A. Statz, age 76, passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2014, at her residence.  Joan was born in Milwaukee on October 17, 1937, daughter of the late Bernard and Agnes (Nee:  Hesiak) Myszkowski.

On October 7, 1967, at St. Rita’s Catholic Church, West Allis, she was united in marriage to Thomas A. Statz of Madison. Throughout her working career, Joan worked for the city of Milwaukee, where she met Tom. Joan was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church. She enjoyed going to the casino, video games and needlepoint. Joan cherished the time spent with her grandchildren and attended almost every Marquette home game. She will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her loving husband of forty-seven years, Tom; her sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey (Darla) Statz of Tomah, WI, Timothy (Kathleen) Statz of Oak Creek; her grandchildren, Hannah, Tyler, Tommy, Katelynn and Allison Statz; sister, Betty Muza of Muskego; sisters-in-law, Beverly Statz Haen, Lois Statz, both of Madison, Lorraine Myszkowski of Lake Tichigan; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Frieda and Matt Statz; brothers, Ben Myszkowski, Jerome “Mouse” Myszkowski, James Myszkowski; brothers-in-law, Alex Muza, Bill Statz, Jim Statz; sisters-in-law, Barb Myszkowski, Elaine Myszkowski, Christine Herfel and Barb Statz.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at 2 p.m. at St. Edward Catholic Church, 1401 Grove Avenue. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Tuesday at the church from noon until time of Mass at 2 p.m. Private entombment will be held at the Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Town of Dover.   In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, St. Edward Catholic Church or to Special Olympics have been suggested.

A special thank you to Dr. Michael Mullane and the All Saints nursing staff, especially, nurse Kim for their loving and compassionate care.
