Marilyn (Schmoll) Nechuta

Marilyn Nechuta, age 81, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 31, 2014, at The Elizibeth Residence in Oak Creek. Marilyn was born in Racine on January 2, 1933, daughter of the late Henry and Louise (Nee: Kroupa) Schmoll.

On May 9, 1953, she was united in marriage to Glenn Nechuta, who preceded her in death on January 25, 1998.  Marilyn was a homemaker and her joy was devoting  her life to her family. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, sharing a special bond with Raechel and Cassie, the only two grandchildren in town. She (and Glenn when alive) would love to take them to the pumpkin farm, Hardees for kids' night and anywhere and any chance they could. She also had the wonderful pleasure of meeting her first great-grandson this July: Rowan Schmitz

Being a homemaker, all of her children knew when you came home from school and swung that back door and yelled, “Mom, I’m home!” she’d greet you with a half-sandwich, Hostess treat and milk.  She also made the BEST cut-out Christmas cookies and homemade frosting. She loved anything with a cat on it and has many sweaters to prove it. She was an extreme couponer before there was a word for that; always the bargain hunter. She used every single holiday as an excuse to buy cards or gifts for her loved ones. Marilyn led a quiet, simple life but touched the life of many people and taught her family what was really important.

Survivors include her children, Terry (Marion) Nechuta of NJ, Randy (Rebecca) Nechuta of MI, Diana (Scott) Limbach of Racine; seven grandchildren, Erich and Danielle Nechuta, Sarah Nechuta-Schmitz, Scott Nechuta and Timothy Nechuta, Raechel and Cassie DeChenne; and one great-grandson, Rowan Schmitz; as well as other relatives and friends. She also leaves behind her special niece, Susie, who for years would help take her on errands and spend time with her.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son and daughter-in-law, Larry (Linda) Nechuta; two brothers and six sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2014, at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet with the family on Saturday at the funeral home from 8:30 a.m. until time of service at 9:30 a.m.

A special thank you for the Care Staff at Elizibeth Residence in Oak Creek for showing my mother love, kindness and concern above and beyond what would have been expected.

In memory of Marilyn, memorials to the Salvation Army of Racine or Care Net Family Resource Center of Racine is suggested.

As Marilyn said to her family: Don’t say goodbye… say, See Ya Later, Alligator!
