Donald G. Troen

Donald G. Troen, age 83, passed away Friday, May 21, 2010, at Wheaton Franciscan- All Saints Hospital. Donald was born in Black River Falls, WI, on February 24, 1927, son of the late Adolph and Clara (nee: Nelson) Troen.

During World War II, Don proudly served in the U.S. Navy, stationed in the Pacific Theater. On October 30, 1954, in Racine, Don was united in marriage to Gertrude Orr, who preceded him in death October 11, 1999. He was employed with Twin Disc for twenty-six years. Don enjoyed hunting and fishing, gardening, football and the thrill of testing his luck at the casino. He will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his children, Donald (Kathy) Troen of Racine, John Troen (Cathy Larson) of Waterford, Kathy (Dan) Kinsley of Racine; grandchildren, Jamie Vanwey, Brian Troen, Robert and Zack Kinsley: special friend, Ethel Malvasio; brother, Harold (Ronna) Troen of Wild Rose; sister, Shirley Lanier of Sturtevant; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Don was also preceded in death by his brother, Alan; and his sisters, Betty Aldert and Carol Beighton.

Funeral services will be held Monday May 24, 2010, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home followed by interment with full Military Honors at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet Monday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until time of service.   Memorials to the American Heart Association have been suggested.
