Robert J. “Bob” Muir, age 54, passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning, May 20, 2010, at his residence. Robert was born in the Orkney Islands, Scotland, on February 13, 1956, son of James and Elisabeth (Nee: Bendrin) Muir and has been a Racine resident since he was four years old.
Bob was a graduate of William Horlick High School “Class of 1974.” On May 27, 1978, Bob was married to the love of his life, Renate Schliedermann, at the First Presbyterian Church, where he had been a longtime member. He was employed with SC Johnson Company for thirty-two years and was a member of their 20-Year Club. In his younger years, Bob was active with the Boy Scouts and was proud to have attained the rank of Eagle Scout. Always an avid sports fan, Bob enjoyed playing first base on his baseball teams and collecting sports cards. He was a history buff who enjoyed reading, especially National Geographic magazine. More than anything, he loved his travels and his time spent with his family. Bob will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his loving wife of 32 years, Renate; caring son, John Muir; his parents, James and Elisabeth Muir; brother, James Muir Jr., all of Racine; nieces and nephews, Jessica Aschenbrenner and her daughter, Sydney, Jan (Stephanie) Schliedermann and their daughter, Emma, Sebastian (Jennifer) Schliedermann, Sarah Schliedermann; mother-in-law, Margarethe Schliedermann of Germany; brother-in-law, Peter (Birgit) Schliedermann; aunts and uncles, Ernst and Ingrid Argstatter of Racine, John Muir, Mary Muir, both of Scotland;; several cousins, other relatives and dear friends. Bob was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Erwin Schliedermann.
Funeral services will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 716 College Ave., on Monday, May 24, 2010, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Ben Johnson-Krase and Rev. Steven Fringer officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Sunday at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m.

Remember Bob well from ball playing back in late 70's-80's...always good natured and fun...We wish his family well....Sorry he went so soon, our thoughts and hearts are with you.
