Dorothea 'Dee' E. (Larsen) Tenuta

Dorothea “Dee” E. Tenuta, age 80, passed away Monday, May 31, 2010, at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. Dee was born in Racine, June 28, 1929, daughter of the late Edwin J. and Helen B. (Nee: Kast) Larsen.

On June 26, 1948, she was united in marriage to Anthony F. Tenuta. Dee was employed by Images Bridal Shop as Manager for ten years. She was a member of St. Lucy Catholic Church. Dee served as President of St. Mary’s Auxiliary and was a volunteer at the hospital for over twenty years. She loved reading but most of all treasured time spent with her family. She will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her loving husband of 61 years, Anthony; her children, David Tenuta of Miami, FL, James Tenuta of Madison, WI; Susan (Allen) Johnson of Racine; her grandchildren, Christina Tenuta (Daniel Cashin), Melissa Johnson, Vieri (Brianna) Tenuta, Dominic Tenuta, Benjamin Johnson; her two great-grandchildren, Grayson Green and Aria Tenuta; sister, Beatrice Sondergaard of Racine; sister-in-law, Patricia Tenuta of Racine; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Grace A. (Nee: Porter) Larsen; and by her brothers, Edwin and John Larsen.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, June 4, 2010, at 11 a.m. at St. Lucy Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Ave., with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Thursday at the funeral home from 5 p.m.. until 7 p.m. and Friday at the church from 10:30 a.m. until time of Mass at 11 a.m. Memorials to St. Mary’s Auxiliary have been suggested.
