Ruth Athleen Wallat, age 92, passed away Saturday, May 1, 2010, at Ridgewood Care Center. She was born in Savanna, IL, April 11, 1918, daughter of the late Alvin and Ione (Nee: Lego) Garrow.
During WWII she moved to Racine and worked on the line at J.I. Case Co. On Dec. 1, 1947, at Emanuel Lutheran Church she was united in marriage to Otto A. Wallat who preceded her in death in 1997. Ruth was employed by Hamilton Beach Co for a number of years and retired from Mamco Inc. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She was a devoted wife and mother and lived for her granddaughters. She will be dearly missed.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Betty (Braunling) Wallat; step-son Roy and Sandy Wallat of Minneapolis, MN; granddaughters, Rachelle of Racine and Rita of Orlando, FL; grandson, Bruce and Ginner Wallat of Minneapolis,MN; her great-grandson, Alex; other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her sisters, Genevieve and Bernice.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at 6 p.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Daniel Quinn officiating. Interment will be held at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet Tuesday at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until time of service at 6 p.m.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Ridgewood Care Center for their loving and compassionate care these past eight years.
