Franksville -- Edward W. Howard, 73 passed away at his home on Saturday, May 29, 2010, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He entered into eternal life surrounded by his loving family.
Eddie was born in Racine on January 9, 1937, the son of the late Walter and Margaret (Babe) Howard. He was united in marriage to Jerrie (Jeraldine Matsen) Howard on May 24, 1956. They recently celebrated their 54th anniversary.
Eddie enjoyed his 47 years of employment at Advance Mechanical. After his retirement he was actively involved with the St. Catherine’s Alumni helping to renovate the Alumni building. At the St. Catherine’s 2009 graduation ceremony, he was bestowed with an Honorary Diploma.
Eddie enjoyed traveling. His trips include visits to 20 countries and 48 states. Many of these trips resulted in new life-long friendships. He also enjoyed playing cards, hunting, fishing, camping with all of his family over the Fourth of July for 42 years at Lake Tomahawk and attending his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. Most importantly, he treasured time spent with his family and many friends.
Eddie is survived by his wife, Jerrie; his children, Jeff Howard, Greg (Carol) Howard, Cindy (Kurt) Fredenberg, Tammy (Scott) Exner, Russ (LeAnn) Howard, Linda (Dave) Hawes; his grandchildren, Christian and Daniel Howard, Kyla, Zach and Hannah Fredenberg, Andrew (Heather) Adams, Erik (Mandi) Adams, Brent Exner, Gwen, Megan, and Lauren Howard, Jennifer, Carly, Michael and Tara Hawes; and his sister Carol (Howard) and the late Bob Helland; many dear brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, numerous nieces and nephews, and many other relatives; Preceded in death by his parents; and his grandchildren, Justin Exner and Erin Fredenberg.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, June 1, from 4-8 p.m. at Maresh-Meredith and Acklam Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 2, 2010, at noon at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6400 Spring St. Family and friends may meet with the family at the church from 11 a.m. until time of Mass. Interment will be held at St. Louis Cemetery, Hwy G. Memorials may be made to St. Catherine’s High School or Caledonia Historical Society.
