Surrounded by her loving family, Dorothy M. Haertel, age 90, passed away Sunday, November 28, 2010, at her residence. Dorothy was born in Racine, May 26, 1920, daughter of the late Sylvester and Catherine (Nee: Willing) Mostek.
On July 16, 1942, in Orlando, Florida, she was united in marriage to Raymond A. Haertel, who preceded her in death, November 24, 1951. Dorothy was employed by All Tool Sales Inc for many years. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed.
Surviving are her two sons, Thomas (Carol) Haertel of Lynchburg, VA, and Jay Haertel of Racine; her four grandchildren, Jeffrey Haertel, Rebecca (Jay) Harper, all of Lynchburg, VA, Scott (Katie) Haertel of Greenfield; four great-grandchildren, Norwell, Bailey, Kasey and Jaxson; sister, Catherine Knapp; brother, Joe Mostek; sister-in-law, Louella Haertel, all of Racine; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her grandsons, Thomas Haertel, Michael Haertel; brothers-in-law, Robert Knapp, Robert Haertel; and nephew, Brian Haertel.
A Memorial Mass will be held Friday, December 3, 2010, at 6 p.m. at St. Edward Catholic Church, 1430 Grove Ave., with Rev. Allen Bratkowski officiating. Private interment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Friday at the church from 5 p.m. until time of Mass at 6 p.m. Memorials to one’s favorite charity have been suggested.
Dorothy’s family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Michael Mullane, staffs at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints 2C, Lakeshore Manor, Hospice Alliance and her private home caregivers for their loving and compassionate care.
