William Knight Miller, 92, passed away after a brief illness Wednesday, November 24, 2010.
He was born November 14, 1918, in Salisbury, North Carolina, to Charles and Ruth (Nee: Booe) Miller. He was a graduate of Boyden High School, Catawba College and earned his PhD at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. During WWII he was a Major in the US Army Air Corps serving in the Pacific theatre. On June 23, 1946, he was united in marriage to Lucille Tibbetts in Salina, Kansas.
Bill worked in and then headed the Analytical Chemistry department at SC Johnson in Racine for 28 years, and then enjoyed retirement in Ocala, Florida, for 23 years. He was a loyal and caring husband and father who will be deeply missed. He was also an award-winning amateur photographer.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Lucille (Tibby); son, Mike Miller; daughter, Becky (Bob) Lehner; grandchildren, Anna, Kristy and Jenny Lehner; brother, Gene Miller; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles II; and sister, Sarah Ruth.
Private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice
