Mrs. Jeannette Carmella Moe, 83, passed away at her home on Monday, November 22, 2010. She was born in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, on September 8, 1927, to the late Alex and Theresa (nee: Marx) Shafranski. She lived most of her life in Racine. She was united in marriage for 40 years to Richard Charles Moe on August 20, 1949. He preceded her in death on Feb. 21, 1990. She graduated from Washington Park High School. She was employed at SC Johnson and Racine Unified as “the lunch lady.”
Mrs. Moe was an avid student of history, taking two European trips to see Vienna and Salzburg, traveling with this wealth of historical knowledge. She enjoyed non-fiction, Mozart and Jeopardy. She was an intelligent and wise woman. Her motto in life was “Don’t ever stop learning.” She had a sharp, spunky and sarcastic sense of humor and wit. She loved her family and never gave up on anyone.
She is survived by her children, Allan (Kim Rose) Moe, Karen (Ed) Mitchell, Mark (Beate) Moe, Brian (Linda) Moe, Dennis Moe, Catherine (Jamie) Cook; son-in-law Doug Steele; fourteen grandchildren, Kevin (Kristie) Moe, Alissa (Daniel) Mordja, Becki (Mark) Meldgaard, Alex Moe, Michael Moe, Joel (Rhonda) Lindmeyer, Tisha (Steve) Cahoon, Karrie (Mike) Petrowski, Nina Mitchell (fiancé, Brent Schaub), Kristin Moe, Annette Quaas, Richard Moe, Adam (Tasha) Moe, Robert Whisman; eighteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dick (Heddy) Shafranski, Jim (Barb) Shafranski; one brother-in-law, Milton Schulz; dear friend since high school, Lucille Krekling; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Christine Moe and Claudia Steele; and sister, Madeline Schulz.
Funeral services will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home, 1212 Lathrop Ave., on Saturday, November 27, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. with Becky Gement officiating. Friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery Hwy 32.
Memorials in memory of Mrs. Moe to HALO or Racine Public Library have been suggested.
