Hugh H. Jones, 83, passed away at his home on Sunday, November 21, 2010. He was born in Racine on December 20, 1926, to the late Hugh E. and Ruth M. (nee: Williamson) Jones. He lived all of his life in Racine. He was united in marriage to the former Joanne R. Bradley in Racine on May 21, 1949.
He was a graduate of Washington Park High School, the January Class of 1945. He enlisted in the United States Navy in late December of 1944. He served his country during WWII in Sasebo, Japan, on a mine sweeper-YMS158 and in Subic Bay in the Philippine Islands. He was honorably discharged late summer of 1946. He attended UW-Racine Extension for one year and Spencerian College in Milwaukee for two years. He was employed at Styberg Engineering Company for 34 years as a Time Study and Methods Engineer and Production Manager, retiring June 30, 1990.
He enjoyed all sports, walleye fishing in Northern Wisconsin and Canada, trips to Las Vegas and spending time in Door County. He played golf for 65 years in Racine. He was a lifetime member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME).
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joanne Jones; three daughters, Debra (David) Queen, Mary (William) Pfister and Sarah Jones; four grandchildren, Amanda (Edward) Struebing, Jeremy Pfister, Jordan Queen and Bradley Jones; three great-grandchildren, Andrew, Emily and Jaxon; brother, Ronald E. Jones; nephew, David (Lynn) Jones; nieces, Julie (Linus) Lalor and Rebecca Jones; many other special relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Til and Gil Bradley; and sister-in-law Suzanne Jones.
A Memorial service will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home, 1212 Lathrop Ave., on Friday, November 26, 2010, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Leland Longrie officiating. Friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Friday from 1 p.m. until the time of service.
Memorials in memory of Mr. Jones to the Salvation Army have been suggested.
