Georgiana Simpson, age 84, passed away Sunday, November 28, 2010, at Hospitality Manor, Kenosha. Georgiana was born in Ashville, North Carolina, on February 27, 1926, daughter of the late George and Jessie (Nee: Robinson) Haynes.
She was united in marriage to Willie Simpson, who preceded her in death, August of 1983. Georgiana was a member of Greater Grace Temple and a member of the Mother Board. She enjoyed arts, crafts, fishing and spending time with the senior group at the King Center. More than anything, she cherished time spent with her family. She will be deeply missed.
Survivors include her children, Qadeem (Dhamera) Shakoor, Floyd (Dorothy) Simpson, Johnny (Ethel) Simpson, Eddie (Ginnett) Simpson, Oscar Simpson, Ocelia (Joy) Simpson, Betty Mullin, Rodney (Flora) Simpson; daughter-in-law, Mary Simpson; 42 grandchildren; 81 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Ozella Scott; sister-in-law, Arizona Simpson; nieces, nephews, host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Willie.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 3, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Greater Grace Temple, 522 Memorial Drive, with Rev. Jettie Cornett officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m.
