Farrell 'Bud' J. Matterer

With his loving family by his side, Farrell “Bud” J. Matterer, age 80, passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. Bud was born in Racine, December 12, 1929, son of the late Harvey and Julia (Nee: Jansta) Matterer Sr. and was a lifelong resident of Racine.

Bud was a graduate of St. Catherine’s High School “Class of 1949.. On October 21, 1978, he was united in marriage to Evie Kosch at St. Joseph Catholic Church where he was a longtime member. Bud was employed by Jacobsen Manufacturing Company for many years as a Computer Operator until his retirement in 1992 and was a member of the Jacobsen “20-Year Club.” In his spare time he loved golfing and was a member of the Washington Park Senior Golf League, and Johnson Park Commercial League Golf Club. Bud also enjoyed his card clubs, playing pool, bowling, reading, the History Channel, and was a great fan of the Packers and the Brewers. More than anything he loved spending time with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his dedicated and loving wife of thirty-one years, Evie; his son, Sid Matterer of Seattle, WA; his stepchildren, Daniel (Therese) Kosch of Eden Prairie, MN, Debra Myklebust of Wisconsin Dells, Donna (Scott) Meske of Waunakee, Deann (Jim) Falbo of DeForest; his grandchildren, Christine (Bill) Schultz, Janet (Dan) Radke, Kristina, Laura, and Jason Kosch, Kelsey, Tess, Jessica, Grace, and Lauren Myklebust, Landon, Lukas and Caleb Meske, Reid and McKenna Falbo; four great-grandchildren, William and Nathan Schultz, Andrew and Alaina Radke; sister, Gloria (Gene) Morin of Milwaukee; brother-in-law Chuck Bernhardt of FL,; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Valeria Matterer (Nee: Mathias); his daughter, Sandy Miller; his son, Gary Matterer; brother, Harvey Matterer Jr., and sister, Yvonne Bernhardt.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, June 1, 2010, at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1533 Erie St., with Rev. John D. Aiello officiating.  Relatives and friends may meet with the family Tuesday at the church from 11 a.m. until time of Mass for visitation. Private interment will be held at Calvary Garden Crypts.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center, ICU, nurses, Hospice Heartcare Unit, Dr. Vikram Nangia, Dr. Indrajit Choudhuri, Dr. Abha Malhotra, and Dr. William Kraklow for their loving and compassionate care.
