Margaret M. 'Marge' (Sutherland) Nielsen

With her loving family by her side, Margaret M. Nielsen, age 91, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 2, 2010, at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare.  Margaret was born in Iron Mountain, MI, March 28, 1919, daughter of the late Simpson and Esther (Nee:  Norgren) Sutherland. 

On August 9, 1943, in Rockford, IL, she was united in marriage to Clary Nielsen, who preceded her in death on April 16, 1979.  Marge was employed by Oster Manufacturing for twenty years and she and her husband owned and operated Clary’s Service Station on Washington Avenue for fifty years.  She had attended Calvary Memorial Church.   Marge took great pride in gardening and maintaining her home.   She loved her family, especially her grandchildren who were always her top priority.  She will be deeply missed.

Survivors include  her daughter, Pamela (Dan) Klopp of Racine; her grandchildren, Justin Klopp of West Bend, Jordanna Klopp of Racine; brother, Al Sutherland of Iron Mountain, MI; nieces, nephews, special friends, Don, Margaret and Michael Klopp; other relatives and many dear friends.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Sally Jones; brothers, Elmer, Wally and Joe; and sisters, Violet and Eva; and dear sister-in-law, Elizabeth “Tanta” Hilker. 

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at the funeral home with Rev. David Baugher officiating.  A reception will follow.  Interment will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park Thursday at 11 a.m.  Relatives and friends may meet with the family Wednesday at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m.  Memorials to the National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial Fund, (NLEOMF) 901 E Street Northwest Suite 100, Washington D.C. 20004 have been suggested.

The family extends a special thank you to Sarah Bradt, the Baugher family and to Jean Kilby for all of their support.
