Cathryn Anne (Bruton) Miller

Cathryn Anne Miller, age 98, passed away on Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at Becker-Shoop Center. She was born in Racine on November 25, 1914, daughter of the late Luke and Frances (Nee: Dederich) Bruton and had been a lifelong resident of Racine.

Cathryn graduated from St. Catherine’s High School “Class of 1932” and was a lifetime member of St. Rose Catholic Church. On July 20, 1940, at St. Rose she was united in marriage to Robert H. Miller and together they owned and operated Miller's Flowers until his death on February 25, 1999. Cathryn was active in the community and had been a member of the Women's Club of Racine, a founding member of the Racine Theatre Guild, a member and past president of St. Mary’s Medical Center Auxiliary, and a member and past president of the Racine County Federation of Republican Women. With a great love of entertaining, Cathryn was the “Hostess with the Mostess” at her home in Racine and at Pan Yack Park. She also enjoyed her many bridge clubs. Above all, she was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed.

Surviving are her children, Robert P. (Mary Kay) Miller, Hilary (Mark) Krejcha, Gwendolyn (Gary Wood) Miller; grandchildren, Mickey Miller, John Miller, Cindy (Dan) Miller, Krissy Miller, Robert Andrew Miller, Gus Krejcha, Max (Jeanie) Krejcha, Ruby Kristan, Miles Kristan, Peter Kristan; great-grandchildren, Jessica and Justin Miller, Mitchell Miller, Nicholas Miller, Xavier and Nadia Krejcha; her special goddaughter, Sheila Angel; sister-in-law, Beno Bruton; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Geoffrey Bruton Miller; her siblings, Robert, Vincent, Freddie and Dr John (Dorothy) Bruton, Alice Bruton, Trudy (Harold) Angel, and Fran (Bob) Baker.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Richard’s Catholic Church, 1503 Grand Ave., with Reverend Richard Molter officiating. Interment will follow at Mound Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet Tuesday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass at 11:30 a.m. Memorials to St. Richard’s Catholic Church or St. Catherine’s High School have been suggested.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you Allay Hospice and the entire staff at Becker-Shoop for taking such great care of Kit Kat these past few years.
