Donald J. Hart

Donald J. Hart, “Don,” age 84, passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Medical Center. Don was born in Racine on November 20, 1928, son of the late Fred and Ida (Nee: Miljour) Hart.

Don attended St. Patrick’s Grade School and St. Catherine’s High School. During WWII he served in the U.S. Army stationed in Guam. On February 20, 1954, he was united in marriage to Donna M. Nelson. Don was employed for forty-four years at Young Radiator. He was a member of UCT, the Moose Lodge and was a Boy Scout Leader for Troop 44 for eleven years. His pastimes included golfing, bowling, fishing, crafts and playing all card games including his favorite, cribbage. More than anything, he cherished time with his family and will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Donna; children, Scott J. (Kim K.) Hart, Dawn M. (Carl) Venegas of Racine, Kimberly J. (Ken) Brame of Clinton, Jeff A. Hart (Jutta Kennedy) of Racine,; eight grandchildren, Tonya (Matt) Peters, Amanda Hart, Allan Hart, Merrisa (Fakebba) Tourney, Vin (Christine) Venegas, Kelly (Jaime) Gonzalez, Megan Hart, Kyle (Amanda) Hart; five great-grandchildren, Austyn, Brody, Brett, Kyliegh and Sloan; sister, Cheryl (James) Fries of Oshkosh; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Helen Hart, Inez Hart of Racine, Ben (Donna) Nelson of Racine; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Willis Hart, Robert Hart, Jean (Thomas) Smith, Grace (Bert) Rauwerda, Marguerite (Louis) Governortori, Marlene (LeRoy) Schultz, and Patricia Hardy.

A Memorial Service will be held Monday, February 11, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Glenn Lawson officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Monday from 9 a.m. until time of service. Memorials in Don’s name to the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery have been suggested.
