Surrounded by his loving family, Eric Rogers, age 98, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at his residence. Eric was born in New Albany, Mississippi, March 23, 1914, son of the late Will and Maggie (Nee: Henry) Rogers.
In 1935 he was united in marriage to Estelle Jackson who preceded him in death, March 29, 1974. Eric was employed with Chrysler Corporation for many years until his retirement in 1978. He was a member of New Omega Baptist Church. Eric had a huge heart and was always willing to help anyone in need. He will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his children, Alfred (Rita) Rogers, Walter (Vallie) Rogers, all of Racine, adopted daughter, Annie (Donnie) Berry Sr.; grandchildren, Alfred (Judy) Rogers, Ricky Rogers, Nakisha Hiler, Lisa (Floyd) Harmon; adopted grandchildren, Donnie Berry Jr., Martel Berry, Teketha Cofield; great-grandchildren, Asha Rogers, Floyd Harmon Jr., Valerie Harmon, Ke’Land Hiler; sisters, Verlene Jackson, Lossie Stephens, all of Racine, Laura Johnson of Evanston, IL; brothers-in-law, Monroe Jackson of Racine, Boyce (Mary) Watt of Detroit, MI; host of special nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by his son, Billie Rogers; adopted grandson, Adonis Lloyd; sisters, Mable (Perry) Gowens, Alberta Rogers, Aella Watt, Alveretta Holcomb; and by his brother, Lemar Rogers.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 13, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the New Omega Baptist Church, 5731 Northwestern Ave., withRev. Fred L. Richmond officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Friday at the church from 9 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m.
