Union Grove – Martha M. Burns, 94, passed away at Hillcrest Park Place in Union Grove on July 9, 2012.
Martha was born in St. Amelie, Canada, to the late Boudwin and Eliza (nee: Petillion) Callewaert on July 17, 1917. Martha was united in marriage to Earl Burns in Winter, WI, on June 19, 1971. She lived in Racine County for most of her life.
Martha was employed by Southern Wisconsin Colony for 17 years. She enjoyed feeding animals, especially birds and deer. She also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, gardening and canning.
Martha will be dearly missed by two daughters, Mary Lou (George) Wade and Joyce (John) Friend; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joe Callewaert, Frank (Ruth) Callewaert; three sisters, Laura Emmerling, Mary (Bob) Waraxa and Irma Sturicz; one sister-in-law, Susan Callewaert; special friend, Marina Warwick; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Burns; son, James Criplean; three brothers, Gerald Callewaert, Albert Callewaert and Camille Callewaert; sister, Irene Schmidt; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
Funeral service in honor of Martha will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home on Thursday, July 12, 2012, at 11 a.m. Interment will be privately held at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. service time.
