Margaret A. (Hamacher) Rybar

Surrounded by her family, Margaret A. Rybar, age 96, passed away Monday, July 9, 2012, at her residence.  Margaret was born in Racine on April 28, 1916, daughter of the late John and Anne (Nee:  Donahue) Hamacher.

Margaret graduated from Racine Park High School “Class of 1934.”  Following graduation, Margaret held executive secretary positions at Feichtner and Netzinger Plumbing Company, Horlick’s Corporation, and retired from the Adams County Wisconsin District Attorney’s office.  On July 29, 1939, at St. Edward Catholic Church she was united in marriage to Milton J. Rybar.  He preceded her in death on October 14, 1996.

She was actively involved in numerous organizations including:  a former member of St. Patrick Catholic Church for twenty years and currently a member of  St. Joseph Catholic Church for the past fifty years; past secretary of the Daughters of Isabella, and member of St. Ann and Joachim Society of St. Joseph Parish; member of the Racine Catholic Women’s Club, past president of the Racine Belle City Drifters Chapter of the Wisconsin Camper’s Association (WCA); past secretary of the Wisconsin Camper’s Association, founder and past president of the Wisingles Camping Club, and member of the Roving Retreads Chapter of the Good Sam National Camping Club.  She enjoyed her winters in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas for twenty-one years at the Fun and Sun RV Resort.  Margaret’s hobbies included oil painting, knitting, crocheting and camping.  Above all, she was a loving and devoted mother who was proud of her Irish heritage and will be fondly remembered for her delicious cherry pies.  She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her children, Jon Rybar of Racine, Jeffrey Rybar of Kansasville, Sue (Les) Chambasian of Racine and Oro Valley, AZ; sister-in-law, Mrs. John (Edwina) Rybarik of Racine; special friends, Jan Schumack, Tracy Carter, and many other camping friends; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ethel (Robert) Leichty; brothers, Warren (Mary) Hamacher, Irving (Ruth) Hamacher; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Vladimir (Irene) Rybarik, John J. Rybarik; niece, Mary Lou Schwelitz; nephew, David Rybarik; and special friend, Genevieve Ragsdale.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, July 13, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1533 Erie St., with Rev. Steve Varghese officiating.  Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32.  Relatives and friends may meet with the family Friday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass at 10:30 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Catherine’s High School, or to a charity of one’s choosing.
