Irene (Petrakis) Moskonas

Irene Moskonas, age 92, passed away Saturday morning, July 14, 2012, at the Claridge House in Kenosha. She was the daughter of Theodore and Etherpe (nee: Andropolis) Petrakis.

On June 1, 1947, she was united in marriage to John Moskonas, who preceded her in death on March 10, 2002. Irene graduated fromWashington Park High School. She was an active member of the Kimissis Theotoku Greek Orthodox Church and the Greek Ladies Philoptochos Society. Irene and her husband John owned several local businesses including Washington Bread Company and H.M. Henricksen Company and she was a very active member of the Wisconsin Food Distributors. She was an avid sports fan who especially enjoyed the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Cubs. She will be sadly missed.

Survivors include her son, William (Carolyn) Moskonas of Racine; favorite nephew, Ted Petrakis of Racine; sister-in-law, Helen Castle, and niece, Adrian Petrakis of Michigan; grandson, Greg (Rebecca) Moskonas of Greenfield; great-grandchildren, Isabella and Nikko Moskonas; special great-nieces, Christine (Dan) Lenczner of Oak Creek and Julie (Todd) Hendricks of Racine; and their children, Aspen, Ghiana and Brandon Lenczner and Justin and Jacob Hendricks.She was preceded in death by her husband, John; brothers, James Petrakis and John Petrakis; sisters-in-law, Angeline Petrakis and Erma Petrakis; and her favorite niece, Dr. Elizabeth Petrakis.

Funeral services will be held at the Kimissis Theotoku Greek Orthodox Church, 1335 South Green Bay Rd., on Thursday July 19, 2012, at 10 a.m., with Fr. John Ketchum officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home Wednesday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. with a Trisagion prayer service to be held at 7 p.m. Memorials to the Kimissis Theotoku Greek Orthodox Church, the Greek Ladies Philoptochos Society or one’s favorite charity have been suggested.
