Anneliese (Wormsbacher) Smieding

Eau Claire, WI -- Anneliese Smieding, age 86, passed away Monday, February 4, 2013, at Grace Woodlands Assisted Living Facility in Eau Claire, WI. She was born in Marburg, Germany, on January 17, 1927, and was raised by her mother, the late Maria Wormsbacher.

On November 28, 1946, she was united in marriage to George Smieding, a U.S. Serviceman, and they returned to Racine, WI, in 1948. George passed away September 9, 2008.

Anneliese enjoyed crafts, gardening and knitting. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Surviving are her daughter, Sandy (Richard) Painter of Racine; her son, Michael (Kathy) Smieding of Eau Claire; grandsons, Christopher Biemeck, Jeffrey (Sara) Smieding; great-grandchildren, Rook Biemeck, Henry Smieding, Violet Smieding; and other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Paul and Hans Wormbacher.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, February 8, followed by funeral services at 2 p.m. with Pastor Mark Doidge officiating. Interment will be held at Graceland Cemetery. Memorials to charity of choice.
