Donald R. Ellis, age 86, passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2013, at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Medical Center. Donald was born in LaCrosse, WI, on January 31, 1927, son of the late Sanders and Carrie Mae (nee: Button) Ellis.
During World War II, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army while stationed in the Pacific Theatre. On October 23, 1948, Don married the love of his life, Arlene Olson. He was employed with Jacobsen Mfg. for over forty-two years until his retirement in 1989. He was a member of Jacobsen’s “20 Year Club” and the Local Union #556. He was a loving and dedicated family man and will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his loving wife of nearly sixty-five years, Arlene; daughter, Lee Ann (David) Bell of Dayton, OH; granddaughter, Traci Langley of Mulberry, FL; great-grandchildren, RJ and Brianna; sister, Joan (Robert) Loos of Rochester, MN; brother, William Ellis of Milwaukee; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, William (Jeanne) Olsen of Baraboo; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Don was also preceded in death by his sisters, Jean Vassh and Mary Ellis; sister-in-law, Joyce Ellis; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Fred and Frances Olson.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at 11 a.m. with Reverend John Fleming officiating. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home Tuesday from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of service.
