Mona A. Reiter, age 98, passed away Sunday, February 17, 2013, at Ridgewood Care Center. Mona was born in Milwaukee, WI, on February 26, 1914, daughter of the late Joseph and Johanna (Nee: Proschinger) Collins.
On May 22, 1937, she was united in marriage to Edward A. Reiter, who preceded her in death on November 25, 1987. Mona was actively involved with the Girl Scouts for many years and accompanied her troop to Europe one summer as their chaperone. An excellent seamstress, she also enjoyed knitting and cross stitching. Above all, she treasured time with her family and will be deeply missed.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Mona (A. John) Swan of Racine; her grandchildren, Gregory Swan of Milwaukee, Martha (Charles) Craun of Grafton, Daniel (Patricia Lamberti) Swan of Chicago; her two great-grandchildren, Julia Mae Craun, Mckenna Elaine Craun; other relatives and dear friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday February 20, 2013, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1533 Erie St., with Rev. Steve Varghese and Rev. Dennis Ackeret concelebrating. Interment will follow at the Valhalla Cemetery, Milwaukee, WI. Relatives and friends may meet with the family on Wednesday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of Mass at 11 a.m. Memorials to the family to establish an education fund for Mona’s great-grandchildren or to the Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast have been suggested.
