Elcho, WI -- Charles Stratman, age 69, passed away with his wife by his side on Friday, July 11, at his Lower Post Lake home. Charles was born in Racine on April 7, 1945, son of the late Charles and Mary Stratman.
Charlie was a graduate of St. Catherine’s High School, “Class of 1963,” and also a graduate of UW-Milwaukee. He taught at Holy Trinity and St. Rita grade schools before turning to his lifelong interest in antiques and furniture restoration.
He operated an antique shop in Kansasville for a time before moving to Rural, WI, in 1976, with his future wife, Karen. It was there they purchased the 1858 Dr. Jehudi Ashmun home situated on the Crystal River. This home, along with his garage woodworking shop, proved to be a continuing restoration project over the years.
He is survived by his wife, Karen; sons, Justin Stratman, Troy, Adam and Ryan Tevis; brother, Jim (Darlene) Stratman; sister, Nancy (Jim) Albright; grandchildren, nieces, nephews other relatives and many dear friends. Memorials to ALS Association have been suggested by the family.
