Following a long struggle and with his family by his side, Patrick Gerard Polcin, age 58, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 24, 2014, at Post Acute Specialty Hospital of Milwaukee. Patrick was born in Racine on March 30, 1956, son of the late John and Josephine (Nee: Kroes) Polcin.
He graduated from St. Catherine’s High School “Class of 1974,” attended UW-Parkside and received his B.A. in Communications from Concordia University. On February 4, 1978, he was united in marriage to Linda S. Buehrens.
Patrick had been employed at In-Sink-Erator, worked in sales for many years and had worked for RUSD as a substitute teacher for 11 years. He was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Sturtevant.
Patrick was a member of Toastmasters International and was a Distinguished Toastmaster. He was a sportsman who enjoyed the outdoors: hunting, fishing, and camping. He enjoyed good conversation with friends and became known as “The Coffee Man” as he made the rounds in the local coffee houses. Above all, Patrick was a dedicated husband and father who treasured the time spent with his family. He will be dearly missed.
Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Linda; daughter, Wendy; siblings, John (Mary) Polcin, Kristine Grow, Josie (Kevin) Grow; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph; sister, Valeria; and his brother-in-law, Ron Grow.
Complete funeral services will be held on Monday, July 28, 2014, at Faith Lutheran Church, 8500 Durand Ave., Sturtevant. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. followed by a funeral service at noon with Reverend Jeffrey Mortenson officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the ICU Staff at Wheaton Franciscan Medical Center for their loving and compassionate care given Patrick.
