Homer Lovely

Homer Lovely, age 76, passed away Monday May 17, 2010 at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare. Homer was born in Caryville, TN December 19, 1933, son of the late Lee and Lela (nee: Queener) Lovely.

Homer proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. On Christmas Eve, 1956, in Tennessee, Homer was united in marriage to the love of his life, Elizabeth Lindsay. He was employed with American Motors as a supervisor in the press room for many years. Homer was an avid fisherman and cherished time spent with his fishing buddies. He was always there to give a helping hand to others. Above all, it was his time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren that gave him his greatest joy. He will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his loving wife, Elizabeth, of 53 years; his children, Gary Lovely, Brenda (Stan) Matson, all of Racine; five grandchildren, Jonathon Matson, Dawn (Tim) Prust, Danielle Lovely, Andrew Lovely, Jaclyn Lovely; his great-grandson, Jaxson; brothers and sisters, Lee Ed (Mary) Lovely, Willard (Kathy) Lovely, Wilma Sue Prim, Betty Jo Kidwell, Pauline Pemberton; brother-in-law, Charles Lindsay; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Elbert and Arvil Lovely; and sisters, Barbara Hyder and Helen Lovely.

A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, May 23, 2010, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Private interment with military honors will be held at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Town of Dover. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Sunday at the funeral home from 11:30 a.m. until time of service. Memorials to the American Cancer Society or to Wheaton Franciscan Hospice have been suggested.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Michael  Mullane and staff, Wheaton Franciscan Oncology 2D nurses and staff  for their loving and compassionate care.
