Shirley M. (Olson) Morelli Madden

OCALA, FL – With her loving children by her side, Shirley M. Morelli Madden, passed away on Mother’s Day, May 9, 2010, at Munroe Regional Medical Center, Ocala, FL. Shirley was born in Racine, August 16, 1929, daughter of the late Earl L. and Edna L. (Nee: Edmark) Olson and had been a resident of Ocala, FL since 1989

Shirley’s hilarious sense of humor and charming personality lit up a room as she entered.   She was a graduate of Park High School in 1947, was the 1st runner-up to the first-ever Miss Racine Contest, long-time employee of Beltone, Eitel’s, and became an accomplished business owner of “Shirley’s Corner.”  Shirley was a talented artist freelancing in watercolor, oil painting and pastels.  She was a member of the Racine Country Club, Woman’s Club of Racine, and the Golden Hills Country Club of Ocala, FL.  Above all, Shirley devoted her life to her family, friends, pets, and will be forever remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother with an unforgettable zest for life.  She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her children, Christine A. (John) Core of Portland, Oregon, Lisa A. (Keith) Stannis, Edward E. (Lynn) Morelli, Jon A. (Patricia) Morelli, Jim A. Morelli , all of Racine; 11 grandchildren, Catherine Rose, Nicole Angst, Frank (Alyssa), Vince, Mario, Dominic, Danielle, Mitchell, Tony, Eddie, and Cassidy Morelli; four stepchildren: Rick, Steve and Kelly Madden and Debbie Moran; brothers-in-law, Robert (Marilyn) Morelli and William (Helen Mary) Madden; many dear and caring family and friends, and her beloved dog Zoey . 

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Edward F. Morelli in August of 1974, Richard R. Madden in August of 1999; her brother, Kenneth W. Olson; and sister, Carole J. Gutmann; granddaughters, Erin Rose and Maria Morelli; and adored dog BooBoo.

A Day of Remembering celebrating Shirley’s life will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2010, at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.    Relatives and friends may meet with the family Thursday at the funeral home from 4 p.m.  until time of service at 6 p.m. Private interment will be held.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the ALS Association or the Humane Society.

There is much more fun in Heaven now with Shirley there!! I am so lucky to have had her for the last 20 years as my Mom II. Condolences to all who loved her.

Can't wait for Halloween in Heaven, Shirley will be in full costume! Shirley was one of a kind, full of fun, love and compassion.Steve and I send our condolences to all who were fortunate enough to have had her in their lives. Rest in peace Shirley Mae.

That is a beautiful picture of a beautiful lady - both inside and out. Never was there a more loving, accepting, non-judgemental person, who was just a blast to be with. Heaven now has a purple bedroom! I will miss you dearly, Shirley baby!
