Delvin 'Bud' N. Petschow

Delvin N. “Bud” Petschow passed away Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, at Lincoln Village Convalescent Center, at the age of 86 years. He was born in Chippewa County, WI, on Oct. 19, 1925, to Walter A. Petschow and Elva V. (Nee: Tietz) Petschow and lived in Racine for the past 60 years.

Bud graduated from Cadott High School in 1944. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1949 through 1951. He was united in marriage to Elaine R. Voss on Dec. 29, 1951. She preceded him in death in 1955.

Bud was employed by the City of Racine for twenty-seven years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church for many years. He enjoyed learning and was an avid reader and Green Bay Packer fan. Bud was also known for his compassion and great love for animals, having owned several dogs over the years and been a constant supporter of the local ASPCA. He will be dearly missed and forever be remembered as a devoted caregiver, particularly for his father and mother.

Survivors include his brother-in-law, Ron Voss; sister-in-law, Maurietta (Petschow) Burgess; nephews and niece, Kevin Petschow of Pleasant Lake, MI., Bryon (Linda) Petschow of Youngsville, NC, Mykel (Petschow) Todd, and Valerie (Dennis) Rubenzer, all of Bloomer, WI.; two cousins, Sherry (Jack) Rich, Diane (Tom) Todish; two great-nieces and three great-nephews, Jessica Petschow, Teresa Petschow, Zachary Rubenzer, Trevor Rubenzer, Tyler Rubenzer; and other relatives and dear friends.

Bud is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Verlyn W. Petschow.

The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, at Maresh-Meredith & Acklam Funeral Home, 803 Main St., in Racine. At Bud’s request, a brief funeral service will be held at the funeral home starting at 1 p.m. with Rev. Walter Hermanns officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Orphan Kanines of Racine or Racine VFW Post 1391.
