William J. Maheras

William John Maheras, “Bill,” age 41, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 20, 2012, at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. He was born in Milwaukee, WI, July 23, 1970, son of John and Xanthie (Nee: Kalliris) Maheras.

Bill was raised in Racine and graduated from Wm. Horlick High School “Class of 1988.” He furthered his studies at UW-Parkside where he majored in Biology and minored in Chemistry. He then studied law at The John Marshall Law School and received his Juris Doctor and Master of Law. Bill practiced law in Chicago at the Law Office of William J. Maheras.

Bill was a member of Kimissis Tis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church. He served on the Board of Directors of the Spartan Soccer Club and served as legal advisor for the Pan Arcadian Federation of America. Bill loved to travel and to play with his godchildren. He was a beloved son and brother who will be dearly missed.

Surviving are his mother, Xanthie Maheras; his brother, Paul J. Maheras; godson, Nicholas G. Reveliotis; goddaughters, Sophia Kozidis and Gia Antonopoulos; aunts, uncles, cousins, koumbarous and lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his father, John Maheras; and his grandparents, Paul and Lydia Maheras, John and Vasiliki Kalliris.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 26, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Kimissis Tis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church, 1335 S. Green Bay Rd., Racine, with Reverend John Ketchum officiating. Entombment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. with a Trisagion Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m.
