Jacqueline J. 'Jackie' (Pfeiffer) Geertsen

Jacqueline J. “Jackie” Geertsen, age 84, passed away early Thursday morning, January 26, 2012, with her family at her side. Jackie was born September 23, 1927, daughter of the late Raymond and Viola (Nee: Lui) Pfeiffer.

On May 13, 1950, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church she was united in marriage to William J. Geertsen. She was an active and longtime member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and Christian Mothers. A loving mother, she was actively involved with her children especially with girl scouts and cub scouts. A talented and creative artist, Jackie enjoyed knitting, crocheting and painting. She created many beautiful pieces featuring rosemaling folk art and winter scenes. She loved ballroom dancing with her husband and treasured her seventeen years of retirement with her husband in Florida in The Villages where Bill and Jackie could be seen on stage demonstrating the art of square dancing. She will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her loving husband of sixty-one years, Bill; her children, Sue (Eric) Pedersen of Racine, Ann (Greg) Shea of Racine, Dave (Sharon) Geertsen of Kenosha, Paul Geertsen of Racine (Nancy of California), John (Beth) Geertsen of Wauwatosa, Steve (Paula) Geertsen of Maple Grove, MN; 14 grandchildren, Hans (Charity) Pedersen, Julie (Matt) Gill, Sara (Steven) Benner, Laura Shea, Andrew (Jessica) Geertsen, Mitchell and Lincoln Geertsen, Katharine, Margaret and Claire Geertsen, Alyssa, Anna, Abby and Owen Geertsen; 7 great-grandchildren, Krista, Irene and Naomi Pedersen, Aryn and Analee Gill, Adam and Aubrey Benner; sisters and brothers, Lucille Felton, Joan Johnson, Rita (Stan) Krogh, Elaine Stuhr, Raymond (Shirley) Pfeiffer; her Loving Granger family; sister-in-law, Anna (Iny) Geertsen; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents, and loving step-mother, Margaret, she was preceded in death by her sister, Lorraine (Ed) Tomasek, sisters and brothers-in-law Arnie Felton, Walter Johnson, Carl Stuhr, Marie (Bernard) Kuypers, Christine (Bill) Bohn.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, January 30, 2012, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 1533 Erie St., with Rev. Sean Granger officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Sunday at the funeral home from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. (Prayer Vigil 4:45 p.m.) and Monday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of Mass at 10:30 a.m. Memorials to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church have been suggested.

A very special thank you to all her caregivers at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints. Their expertise comforted us. Fr. Sean and Chaplain Mark’s prayers and guidance were a blessing.
