Robert was employed as an oiler on the hammers with the Ladish Company for more than twenty years until his retirement in 1996. He enjoyed his time with his wife, Virginia, volunteering for Meals on Wheels and supporting her clown ministry. Bob had a great appreciation for nature and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He cherished his time spent together with his family and friends. Above all, he will be best remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be deeply missed.
Survivors include his children, Daniel (Bobbie) Carpenter of TX, Robert Carpenter Jr. of Racine, Joy (David) Crain of IN, Carol LaRue of TX; eight grandchildren, Rose Haney, Justina (Tony) Garcia, Joel, Darin, and April Crain, Jason (Niki) O’Brien, Lowell and Heather Hetchler; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Ginny Atchison of Texas and Dolly Ramos of FL; sisters-in-law, Alice Kowolski of Milwaukee, Julie Yost of West Allis; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda; and his brother, Richard.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 3126 95th Street, Sturtevant, on Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Paul Raczynski officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of Mass. Memorials to the Excel Adult Family Home, P.O. Box 423 Sturtevant, WI 53177, The American Heart Association or the Cancer Research and Prevention Foundation 1600 Duke St Suite 500, Alexandria, VA 22314 have been suggested.
