Cheryl M. (Kouzes) Anderson

Surrounded by her husband and church family, Cheryl M. Anderson, age 58, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2014, at Aurora St. Luke’s South Shore Medical Center. Cheryl was born in Aurora, IL, on August 9, 1956, daughter of the late Peter and Shirley (Nee: Vermaat) Kouzes.

On January 16, 1981, she was united in marriage to Howard Anderson Jr. In her early years Cheryl was employed at Southern Wisconsin Center as a Nursing Assistant. She graduated from Parkside University, worked at Abbott Labs and  for various home health care companies.

Cheryl was an avid reader and enjoyed many different activities, always with the companionship of her circle of girlfriends.  She loved to travel, last seeing her son‘s marriage in August in Georgia. Cheryl was a faithful member of Grace Church, having given her heart to the Lord at a Billy Graham crusade at age 20. Cheryl was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2010 and fought four years.  She was a loving and devoted wife and mother who will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her loving husband of thirty-three years, Howard; her son and daughter-in-law, Howard (Ashley) Anderson III of Athens, GA; brother, Kevin (Celita) Kouzes of Port Washington; stepmother, Linda Kouzes of Elkhorn; mother-in-law, Magnolia Anderson of Jackson, MS; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Gary (Veris) Garland, Floretta Anderson, all of Jackson, MS; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Grace Church, 3626 Highway 31, with Rev. Samuel Jackson officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Friday at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and Saturday at Grace Church from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m.

The family is thankful for all the support given to Cheryl the last four years.
