Robert C. Chambers

Elroy, WI -- Robert Clayton Chambers, age 90, passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2014, at Heritage Manor, Elroy, WI.  He was born in Lakewood, OH, on April 18, 1924, son of the late Clayton and Myrtle (Nee: Englehart) Chambers.

They moved from Indiana, where Clayton was the Clerk of Courts. Working as an accountant, he died when Bob was 13 months old, leaving his mother a widow for four years, until she married Bob's stepfather, Walter Gardner.

Robert served three years in the U.S. Army during WWII under the command of General George S. Patton.  He graduated from Kent State University, after attending Cleveland State University and Biarritz University in France.

On July 22, 1950, in Cleveland, OH, he was united in marriage to Dorothy McKnight Cleary, who preceded him in death on March 19, 2008.

Robert worked in international advertising and marketing. He was employed by subsidiaries of Emerson Electric Co including InSinkErator, which brought him to Racine in 1976 to direct the worldwide sales of InSinkErator products.  Prior to that he was employed for nine years by Ridgid Tool and Die, where he handled the company's marketing and advertising in 112 countries. He retired in 1987.

He enjoyed flying and was a "student  pilot" for 20 years. Robert enjoyed golf and tennis and was a member of the Kenosha Country Club.  He and Dorothy were avid bridge players, and dedicated supporters of anything that was connected with the local humane societies. Above all, Robert was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed.

Surviving are his children, Patti (Chuck) Vlasak of Elroy, WI, Tim (Micki) Chambers of Oswego, IL; grandchildren, Charlie (Kasey), Jonathan (Dana), Richie, Nicholas and Ashlee Vlasak, Kelly (Josh) Horeni, Stacey (Will) Lueke, and Jamie Chambers; 12 great-grandchildren, Ryan, Drew, Gracie, Jude, Joshua, Matthew, Charlie, Owen, Asher, Zane, Fischer and Walker, and other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Evelyn Conley.

Committal services with full military honors will be held on Friday, October 31, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Holy Cross Cemetery Chapel, Hwy 32.  Entombment will follow.
