Henry Kroes Jr., age 95, passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2012, at Ridgewood Care Center. Henry was born October 26, 1916. Henry is the son of the late Henry and Everdina (Clausen) Kroes. He served in the Army in World War II and, on June 28, 1944, he was married to Phyllis Gotz who preceded him in death, three years ago.
Henry was a member of St Edwards Church for the past 49 years. He enjoyed fishing and gardening but above all was devoted to his family and helping others. He will be deeply missed.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Roger (Margaret) Kroes of Texas; his four grandchildren, Calvin Kroes of Oklahoma, Daniel (Katie) Kroes of Louisiana, Greg (Beth) Kroes of Missouri, Crystal Kroes of Texas;
two great-grandsons, Henry and Owen; sisters, Georgia Rapaelian, Nettie Doyle; brother, Ted Kroes; sister-in-law, Lillian Kroes; other relatives and dear friends. In addition to his parents and wife, Phyllis, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Minnie Orth, Dorothy Johnson, Sister Corona, Mary Beres; brothers, John Kroes, Bill Kroes and George Kroes.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, October 15, 2012, at 10 a.m. at St Edwards Catholic Church, 1401 Grove Ave., with the Rev. Allen Bratkowski officiating. Entombment with full military honors will follow at Holy Cross Garden Mausoleum, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Sunday, October 14, 2012 at the Funeral Home from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. and on Monday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass at 10 a.m. Memorials to the Racine County Zoo have been suggested by the family.
