Michael Otis Tohm

Michael Otis Tohm, age 68, passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2012, at the Elizabeth Residence.  Michael was born in New London, WI, on April 19, 1944, son of the late Clarence R. Tohm and Alice M. (Nee:  Combs) Tohm Coates.

He graduated from Washington Park High School “Class of 1962.”  Mike attended Milwaukee Technical School in a two-year printing course.  Mike and Sharon met in 1957 and were united in marriage on February 20, 1965.  He began his work career at Woolworth Central Office in their printing department, later at Racine Hydraulics operating their printing department, and then was offered work with his father-in-law at his company, Morris Letter and Litho Service Inc.  In 1985 Mike and his wife, Sharon, purchased Morris Letter and became partners in more ways than one.  In 2004 due to health, the company was closed.  Mike enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, boating, photography and chatting with the boys at Fifth Street Yacht Club.  He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church for forty-seven years, Fifth Street Yacht Club, past member of Salmon Unlimited, Advertising Club of Racine, Downtown Business Men’s Association, and Indian Princesses.  Mike and Sharon worked together, played together, and occasionally fought together, but they shared a very deep loving relationship.

Survivors include his loving wife of forty-seven years, Sharon; his daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca Pearle (Kenneth Henry) Brueggeman of Madison, WI; sister, Sue Ann (Nee: Tohm) Bohlander of Holland, MI; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Bonnie Jean (Nee: Bislew) (Ted) Moore; nieces and nephews, Randal (Katie) Romnek, Robert (Janell) Romnek, Christopher Romnek, Sarah (Geoff) White, Christian Isely; step-niece, Patty (Tom) Nikolai; step-nephew, Bob (Sandy) Moore; many great-nephews and nieces; godchildren, Doris Wedige, Sarah White, and Jennifer Roberts; other relatives and dear friends.  In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Pearle and Fred Bislew.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 20, 2012, at noon at the 5th Street Yacht Club with Rev. Randall Poppe officiating.  Relatives and friends may meet with the family Saturday at the 5th Street Yacht Club from 11 a.m. until time of service at noon.  In lieu of flowers, donations to Grace Lutheran Church, Hospice Alliance, or Make-A-Wish Foundation have been suggested.

A special thank you to Hospice Alliance, Home Linc BilleePlatt, Elizabeth residents and Racine Fire Department for all their help and kindness provided to Mike.

Your Smile

Though your smile
Is gone forever,
and your hand I
cannot touch, I still have
many memories of the
one I loved so much.
Your memory is my
keepsake, with which I’ll never part,
God has you in His keeping, I have
you in my heart.
Sadly missed, but never
Forgotten.
