Helen (Leech) Fineran passed away Friday, October 29, 2010. She was born September 19, 1922, to the late Lawrence and Elsa (Crinion) Leech.
She married George Thomas Fineran on December 26, 1953. Helen was a member of the Wisconsin Retired Educators Association and the American Association of University Women. An educator, Helen loved learning and received Undergraduate and Master's Degrees from the University of Wisconsin. She read extensively, gardened and traveled the Eastern, Western, Middle and Southern U.S. as well as Mexico and Europe. She kept her own counsel.
The love of her life was her family and home. She is survived by her loving husband, George, and beloved sons, Thomas (wife Gerene and children Elizabeth and Bart) and Patrick; relatives and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, November 1, 2010, at 11 a.m. at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, 1903 Green St. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Garden Mausoleum Crypts. Visitation for relatives will be held Monday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of Mass at 11 a.m. Memorials to the Parkinson’s Foundation have been suggested.

Steven G. Gabriel
Steven G. Gabriel, age 67, passed away unexpectedly Friday October 29, 2010, at Froedtert Hospital. Steven was born in Chicago, IL May 13, 1943, son of the late Steven and Susan (nee: Fako) Gabriel, and was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Jane DiMucci.
On September 5, 1965, at Park Presbyterian Church in Streator, IL, Steve married the love of his life, Judy Elizabeth Genseke, and together shared forty-five wonderful years. He graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in Political Science. Furthering his education, Steven also attained a degree in Law from DePaul University and his MBA from the University of Chicago.
He and his family moved to Racine in 1974 when he started his employment with Heritage Bank, now Johnson Bank. Steve began his career with the bank by starting the Trust Department and remained with Johnson Bank until his retirement. He had been a member of the Racine Downtown Rotary Club and served on the boards of the DeKoven Foundation, The Taylor Home, and Wustum Museum.
Throughout his life, Steve’s main interest remained in the world of art. He was an artist himself and enjoyed sculpting and painting. Steve supported the local art community and the community at large. He worked closely with the Henry Moore Foundation in England and collected drawings, prints, books and sculpture. He published a book entitled “Henry Moore in Castleford.” He worked with other experts to identify forged works of art being sold as originals. Steve was proud to have completed three marathons. He had a great sense of humor and a generous heart. His greatest joy was for his family. He will be dearly missed.

Lois M. (Olson) Wood
Lois M. Wood, age 82, passed away Friday morning, October 29, 2010, at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Medical Center. Lois was born in North Cape on January 26, 1928, daughter of the late Sydney and Bessie (nee: Picha) Olson.
On September 25, 1948, at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Raymond J. Wood. Together, they enjoyed fifty-two years together until his passing August 17, 2000. Lois was a longtime dedicated member of St. John Nepomuk where she was active in the choir and bell choir. She last worked at Young Radiator, retiring in 1983. In her spare time, Lois enjoyed reading, doing cross-stitch, crossword puzzles and especially enjoyed her time recently in the puzzle room with her friends at Home Harbor. More than anything she enjoyed the many holiday and family get-togethers with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who truly loved their “Gigi.” She will be dearly missed.

Leah Seft, age 98, formerly of Racine, Wisconsin, passed away October 28, 2010, in Minneapolis, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Max Seft; son, Louis Seft; parents Abraham and Sarah Cohen; and sisters, Lillian Light, Rose Amsterdam and Helen Garon.

Marie V. Matranga, age 94, passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2010. Marie was born in Rock Island, IL, daughter of the late Oscar J. and Martha (Nee: Broshaw) Becker.
She was united in marriage to Joseph Matranga who preceded her in death, August 25, 1980. Marie and her family owned and operated Matranga’s Grocery Store for many years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed.

He was born on August 20, 1923, and lived in and worked in Racine his whole life. Chuck was self-employed in the restaurant and tavern business.

Surrounded by her family, Susan Ann Donovan, age 68, passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2010, at her residence. Susan was born in Milwaukee, WI, on February 25, 1942, daughter of the late Hubert and Marjorie A. (Kerndt) Groenewold.
On July 30, 1960, she was united in marriage to John “Jack” Donovan. For seventeen years Susan worked side by side with her husband at the Kurten Clinic Pharmacy. She later ran “Grandma’s Rocker” Daycare Center for six years. In her retirement she enjoyed her travels to various casinos and to musicals at the Fireside Theater. Susan was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. More than anything she cherished time spent with family and will be dearly missed.

Julia (Poulsen) Durand
Julia Durand, age 100, passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2010, at Lakeshore Manor. Julia was born in Racine, October 29, 1909, daughter of the late Julius and Dorothea (Nee: Thogensen) Poulsen. She was the youngest child in the family and had two brothers, Elmer and Roy, and two sisters, Mabel and Viola.
Julia was a graduate of Racine High School. Furthering her education, she graduated from St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing, Racine, in 1931. On October 18, 1933, at Emmaus Lutheran ELCA Church she was united in marriage to Laurier E. Durand, who preceded her in death, January 13, 1989.
Julia was a registered nurse working most of her career in maternity nursing, retiring in 1976 after 24 years in the St. Luke’s delivery room. In 1995 Julia was recognized as a founding member, of the Nurses Foundation of Racine, scholarship arm of the Kenosha-Racine District. She was a member of the Wisconsin Nurses Association for seventy-six years serving as Treasurer for four years. Honored with a lifetime membership in 1997. She held just about every office on the board of the Kenosha-Racine Nurses Association, and chaired the Selection Committee of the Nurses Foundation of Racine from 1983-2004, retiring at the age of 95. Julia was an active member of Emmaus Evangelical Lutheran Church where she served as council member and Mary Circle member. Julia was a longtime member of Meadowbrook Country Club and enjoyed playing bridge and golfing.
Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Joan (Ray) Boehm, Susan Schulson, Rev. Rita C. (Koleske) Barranco
Rita C. Barranco (“Reets”), age 83, passed away Monday, October 25, 2010, at Lake Country Health and Rehabilitation in Oconomowoc. She was born in Racine, April 8, 1927, daughter of the late Frank L. and Veronica (Nee: Feest) Koleske.
On December 28, 1946, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Racine, she was united in marriage to Samuel A. Barranco who preceded her in death on January 8, 2010. She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was active in St. Joseph’s Christian Woman’s Society, St. Joseph’s Choir and St. Ann & Joachim Society, serving as president. Always willing to give of herself and devote her time to others, Rita was actively involved with the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, St. Catherine’s Guild, and was an original founder of the VFW Auxiliary. She also worked in an administrative role at Master Appliance and was a certified nursing assistant as well.
Most of all, she treasured time spent with her family. Her door was always open to everyone. Her children and grandchildren were her joy; her care and love for them was extraordinary. She will forever be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be dearly missed.

Patricia Ann Strawnsky
Mrs. Patricia Ann Strawnsky (nee: Sondrup), 73, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – All Saints on Thursday night, October 21, 2010.
Patricia was born in Racine to the late Christopher and Lucille Sondrup on December 17, 1936, and had lived in Racine her whole life. In Racine, she was united in marriage to Roger G. Strawnsky on June 15, 1957. He preceded her in death on July 24, 2004.
Mrs. Strawnsky was a long-time member of Plymouth Congregational Church. She was a very generous and kind person. She donated to various charities and helped friends when there was a need. She always protected her family with her kind love. Patricia loved reading, music, movies and traveling. She also had the biggest heart for animals. For the past 10 years, she kept her kind and loving spirit.
Patricia will be dearly missed by her two children, Cynthia (Dean) Arneson of Dayton, OH, and Mark Strawnsky of Racine; and dear friends of the family, Agnes Bergmann and Rod Sharp, both of Racine. She was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Sondrup; and her sister, Shirley Sondrup.

Debra had been employed for fifteen years as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Ridgewood Care Center and was most recently employed with the State of Wisconsin Department of Veterans. She was a member of the Second Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Mack C. Davis. Debra was a loving and devoted daughter, mother, sister, and friend who will be dearly missed.

Stuart Lawrence 'Stu' Bergmann
Stuart Lawrence “Stu” Bergmann, age 49, of Kenosha, died on Sunday, October 17, 2010, at Hospice House after a courageous battle with brain cancer.
Born in Marshfield, WI, on June 25, 1961, Stu was the youngest of eleven children born to Ervin and Helen (Suennen) Bergmann. He grew up in Athens, WI, where he attended St. Anthony Elementary and graduated from Athens High School.
On May 2, 1992, Stu was united in marriage to Lisa Salup at St. Michael Catholic Church in Chicago.
Stu received his B.A. from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point before joining the staff of the Boy Scouts of America. He began his career as District Executive in Morris, IL in 1984 and has since held numerous positions in various councils. Since June of 2008, Stu has served the scouts as Scout Executive of the Southeast Wisconsin Council B.S.A.
In keeping himself “physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight,” Stu enjoyed many sports, including golf, tennis, fishing, basketball and wrestling. He was a devout Catholic and belonged to St. Anne Catholic Church with his family. Stu was also a member of the Downtown Racine Rotary Club.
Left to comfort one another with precious memories of Stu are his beloved wife, Lisa; cherished children, Jarrett, Jessica, Olivia and Katelynn Bergmann; devoted mother, Helen Bergmann; loving siblings, Neil (Karen) Bergmann, Jane (Wayne) Bautch, Barb (John) Losey, Alan (Linda) Bergmann, Mary (Mickey) Hadick, Keith (Lisa) Bergmann and Bruce (Kay) Bergmann; many adored nieces and nephews; and countless treasured friends.

Jane was a graduate of St. Catherine’s High School “Class of 1964.” On April 1, 1967, she was united in marriage to Timothy C. Eickner who preceded her in death Wednesday, June 9, 2010. Nikola Vukicevic
Nikola Vukicevic, age 90, passed away Friday morning, October 15, 2010, at the Vitas Ruth Hospice Home in Milwaukee. Nikola was born in Gledice Yugoslavia November 18, 1919, son of the late Zivojine and Milunka Vukicevic.
During World War II, he proudly served his country in the Yugoslav Army and was a POW while stationed in Germany. Following the war, Nikola left his country under communist control and instead immigrated to the United States. On August 12, 1960, he was united in marriage to the love of his life Stoja Tucakovic. Nikola was employed with Racine Steel Castings for over twenty five years until his retirement in 1980. He was a devoted member of St. George Serbian Orthodox Church. Nikola will be best remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Stoja; his daughter, Marija (James) Webers of Pleasant Prairie; son, Radivoje “Rudy” Vukicevic of Prior Lake, MN; grandchildren, Olivia and Michael Webers; brother, Milan (Gordana) Vukicevic of Yugoslavia; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Nikola was also preceded in death by his brothers, Milisav and Milos.
Funeral services will be held at St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, 826 State St., on Monday, October 18, 2010, at 10 a.m., with Rev. Dragan Mitrovic officiating. Interment will follow at Most Holy Mother of God Cemetery, Third Lake, IL. Jane Patricia Jensen
Mrs. Jane P. (nee: Ogrodowski) Jensen, 89, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at her residence.
Jane was born in Milwaukee to the late Frank and Mary (nee: Konieczka) Ogrodowski on January 4, 1921. She was united in marriage to Ellsworth Jensen on July 2, 1976, at St. Veronica Catholic Church in Milwaukee. After her marriage, she moved to Racine where she lived for most of her life.
Jane was employed at J.C. Penny, first in Milwaukee then, at Elmwood Plaza in Racine for over 35 years. After her retirement she remained active in the community as a volunteer for St. Mary’s Auxiliary and Meals on Wheels. She was also a long time member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church since 1976.
She will be dearly missed by her husband, Ellsworth; son, Joseph (Louise) Szymanski; five grandchildren, Michelle Kesich (special friend, Bruce), Dan Kesich, Linda (Dale) Olszewski, Nichole (Trent) Langness, Natalie Szymanski (fiancé, Rory); four great-grandchildren, Cody Kesich, Sydney and Ashley Olszewski and Toby Langness. She is also survived by her brother, Ron Ogrodowski of Prescott, Ariz.; special niece, Barb Petersen of Racine; and several other nieces and nephews. Jane was preceded in death by her parents, and a daughter, Camille Kesich of Milwaukee.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6400 Spring St., on Wednesday, October 20, 2010, at 10 a.m. with Fr. William J. Dietzler officiating. Martin J. Kritzcki, age 92, passed away Thursday, October 14, 2010, at the Becker-Shoop Center. Martin was born in Racine, March 10, 1918, son of the late Julius and Stella (Nee: Serbinski) Karecki.
During World War II, Martin proudly served in the United States Army. Martin was a member of VFW Post 1391 and was actively involved with the Racine Disabled American Veterans. He loved selling poppies every year and also enjoyed visiting the Veterans at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center, Milwaukee. He was employed for many years at Modine Manufacturing. Above all he treasured time spent with his family and will be dearly missed.

Anna E. Jacobson, age 87, passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2010, at her residence. Anna was born in Racine, August 26, 1923, daughter of the late Rudolph and Anna (nee: Barina) Simanek.
Anna was a member of St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church and on September 7, 1946, at the church she was united in marriage to Ralph J. Jacobson. He preceded her in death, July 28, 1997. A decorator at heart, Anna loved her garden, crafts, shopping and rummaging for her next treasure. She was also an excellent seamstress who enjoyed stitching and sewing. Above all it was her family that was most dear to her. She will be deeply missed.
Survivors include her children, Paulette (Thomas) Brunner of East Troy, Peter (Kathryn) Jacobson, Donna (David) Brouwers, Jeffrey (Janet)Jacobson, all of Racine; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Meyer of Racine; 14 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters and brother, Millie Nelson, Addy (Marvin) Wirtz, Dolly (Joe) Bauer, Ralph (Janet) Simanek; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. On November 20, 1941, she was united in marriage to Herbert A. Mikulecky who preceded her in death on April 3, 2004. Rose was employed by Twin Disc for over seventeen years until her retirement in 1983. Rose was a member of St. Richard Catholic Church. Rose enjoyed many years square dancing and traveling with her husband Herbert. More than anything, she treasured time spent with her family and grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.

Stephan A. Cikel, age 92, passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2010, at Ridgewood Care Center. Steve was born in Racine, January 23, 1918, son of the late Steven and Julia (Nee: Jurik) Cikel.
During World War II he proudly served as Sergeant in the United States Army stationed in the South Pacific and Europe. On June 26, 1948, in Racine he was united in marriage to Inez H. Rogers. Steve was employed by Simmons, Oster Manufacturing, and retired from Young Radiator in 1983. He enjoyed repairing watches but more than anything treasured time spent with his family. He will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Inez; his daughter and son-in-law, Sharon G. (Steven) Robertson of Racine; his grandson, Aaron (Mineko) Sorensen of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates; two great-grandchildren, Lucas and Tia Sorensen; brothers, Emil (Edna) Cikel, Jerome Cikel, Edwin (Maryann) Cikel, all of Racine; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. Sister Regina Williams, O.P., 92, passed away at Siena Center, Racine on Sunday, October 10, 2010.
Vivian Mary Williams was born September 25, 1918, in Green Bay, WI. She was adopted at birth by her grandparents John and Georgiana Williams. On August 29, 1937, she joined the Racine Dominicans and at her reception in 1938 she was given the religious name Sister Regina. She professed her first vows in 1940 and her final vows in 1946.
Sister Regina spent many years in service to others in teaching and peace and justice work. She began her ministry in 1939 at St. Patrick, Racine, WI. Other places in Wisconsin where she served were Holy Name and Dominican College, Racine; St. Bernard, Madison; St. Benedict, the Peace and Justice Center, Holy Angels Parish, Faith Community for Worker Justice, Urban Day School, and Mary Bethune Reading Academy, Milwaukee; and St. John, South Milwaukee. She also served in Michigan. She became a resident at Siena Center in 2002 and continued to work in areas of peace and justice.
Sister Regina is survived by the Racine Dominican Sisters and Associates and good friend Sister Therese Van Thull. She was predeceased by her adoptive grandparents.
Visitation will be in the Siena Center Chapel on Thursday, October 14, beginning at 10:30 a.m. with a Remembering Service at 2:30 p.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 4 p.m. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery Hwy 32. Memorials to the Racine Dominican Mission Fund have been suggested.

Barbara A. (McGraw) Nelson
Barbara A. Nelson, age 78, passed away Saturday, October 9, 2010, at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. Barbara was born in Racine, December 26, 1931, daughter of the late Walter and Mary (Nee: Helgert) McGraw.
She was united in marriage to Robert H. Nelson who preceded her in death in 1969. Barbara was employed by Southern Colony for many years. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her children, Carol Braun, Robert (Mary) Nelson, Mona E. Burkhardt; 12 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. She was united in marriage to Robert H. Nelson who preceded her in death in 1969. Barbara was employed by Southern Colony for many years. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her children, Carol Braun, Robert (Mary) Nelson, Mona E. Burkhardt; 12 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her sister, Jean Dvoracek; and her brother, Walter “Bud” McGraw.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, October 14, 2010, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Thursday at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. Private interment will be held.

Jasper D. Brusha, age 70, passed away Saturday, October 9, 2010, at Boland Nursing Care at the Union Grove VA.

Surrounded by his loving family, Edward J. Campbell, age 82, passed away Friday, October 8, 2010, at the Francis House. Edward was born in Newton, Massachusetts, February 21, 1928, son of the late Edward and Mary (Nee: Doherty) Campbell, whom were both born in County Donegal, Ireland.
Edward graduated from Newton High School, Newton, MA, in 1945. From 1945 to 1948 he served in the United States Navy (Electronics School and USS Ozburn DD846).
At Northwestern University, Evanston, IL, Edward received a BSME in 1952 and MBA in 1959. Early in his career he was employed at American Brake Shoe Company (ABEX) and Whirlpool Corp. He continued in leadership roles employed at Joy Manufacturing Company as General Manager from 1966-1967, JI Case Company (Tenneco) as Executive Vice President from 1968-1978, Newport News Shipbuilding (Tenneco) from 1979 -1991 as President and CEO, and JI Case Company (Tenneco) as President and CEO from 1992 until his retirement in 1994.
Edward was dedicated to numerous business, educational, and technical organizations. He was active in civic affairs including: member and chairman of Berrien County, Michigan Republic Party, President of Benton Harbor Michigan Kiwanis Club, President of Racine Area Chamber of Commerce, Founder of the Junior Achievement of Virginia Peninsula, Member of Defense Planning and Advisory Council (U.S. Government–Defense Department), member of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Advisory Council (U.S. Government-Commerce Department), board member of Worldwide United Service Organization (U.S.O.) President of SNAME. Edward served on the Board of Directors with C & S/Sovran Banks, Global Marine, Zurn Industries and Titan Wheel. He was also a member of the Somerset Club, Racine, Commonwealth Club, Richmond, VA, Harbor Club, Norfolk, VA, The Club at the World Trade Center, New York, NY, and various golf clubs including the Pine Valley Golf Club of Clementon, NJ, Laurel Valley Golf Club of Ligonie, PA, Kingsmill Golf Club of Williamsburg, VA, Burning Tree Golf Club of Bethesda, MD, James River Country Club of Newport News, VA, and the Racine Country Club.

Sister Cecilia Olle, O.P., 104, passed away at Siena Center, Racine on Friday, October 8, 2010.
Marie Anne Olle was born January 6, 1906, to Thomas and Christine (nee: Roeschen) Olle in Racine, WI. On August 30, 1924, she joined the Racine Dominicans and at her reception in 1925 she was given the religious name Sister Cecilia. She professed her first vows in 1927 and her final vows in 1933.
Sister Cecilia spent many years in service to others by teaching music. She began her ministry in 1925 at St. Bernard, Madison, WI. Other places in Wisconsin where she served were St. Augustine, Wausaukee; Holy Angels, Milwaukee; Holy Cross, Kaukauna; St. Mary, Kenosha; and St. Rose, St. Edward, St. Catherine Convent, the School of Music, and Dominican College, Racine. She also served in Michigan. When she became a resident at Siena Center in 1970 she continued to give private music lessons until 1994.
Sister Cecilia is survived by the Racine Dominican Sisters and Associates; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her brothers Vincent and Thomas; and her sister Cecilia Wood.
Visitation will be in the Siena Center Chapel on Wednesday, October 13, 2010, beginning at 9:30 a.m. with a Remembering Service at 2:30 p.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 4 p.m. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery Hwy 32. Memorials to the Racine Dominican Mission Fund have been suggested.

Jane C. Laurent, age 79, passed away Thursday, October 7, 2010, at Ridgewood Care Center. She was born in Racine, October 20, 1930, daughter of the late Theodore and Catherine (Nee: Duda) Stupak.
She graduated from William Horlick High School. On June 14, 1952, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church she was united in marriage to Robert J. Laurent. Jane was employed as a bookkeeper for Palmer Johnson for over twenty years. She was a member of St. Lucy’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed reading, shopping, traveling, cooking, sewing, gambling and spending time with her family. Above all she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed.
Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Robert; children, Thomas (Jane) Laurent and Sandy (Gary) Petersen all of Racine; grandchildren, Lindsay, Tyler, Carly, and Dana Laurent; special niece, Linda (David) Wachowiak; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Theodore (Mary) Stupak; and sisters, Ann Shifano, Mary Stupak and Christine (Oscar) Moe.

On May 1, 1943, at St. Lucy’s Catholic Church, she was united in marriage to Russel F. Recupero who preceded her in death on September 19, 2001. Rose was employed by the Western Publishing Company in Racine for many years, last working as a Bookkeeper in the Coffeyville, Kansas, facility. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a former member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. She was a member of the Vittoria Colonna at Roma Lodge and a member of the Ladies of Columbus. She enjoyed traveling, playing golf, bowling, gardening, bocci, and bridge. Most of all, she loved being with her family and will be dearly missed.

She is further survived by brother-in-law Santo (Millie) Recupero of Camarillo, CA; sisters-in-law Rose Borel of Racine, Jane Krumberger of Madison, Frances Gilchrist of Evergreen, CO, and Mary Recupero of Palm Desert, CA; in addition to other nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Erco DeMarco; her sister, Mary Sesso; brothers-in-law Tony Recupero, Sam Mortellaro, Fred Borel, Mike Gilchrist, Louis Sesso, and Bill Krumberger; sisters-in-law Toni DeMarco, Ann Mortellaro, Eleanor Recupero; niece Vicky Recupero; and nephews, James Borel and Gary Gilchrist.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2201 Northwestern Ave., on Wednesday, October 13, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Ronald O. Crewe officiating. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery Garden Mausoleum. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials to the “Alzheimer’s Disease Research Foundation” or the “Stars and Stripes Honor Flights” (organization taking Southeast-Wisconsin WWII veterans to Washington, DC).

Attorney John V. Casanova
John V. Casanova, age 85, passed away Oct 3, 2010, at his home in Racine, WI, surrounded by his loving family. John was born in Watertown, WI, on July 5, 1925, and was son of the late Dr. John R. and Verna (Nee: LaClair) Casanova. At 3 years old, his mother died. John was raised by his loving stepmother, Leanore (White), Casanova. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marilyn Casanova, his four adult children, and six grandchildren.
John proudly served in the United States Navy during WW II. He received a baccalaureate degree (B.S.M.E.) in mechanical engineering in 1946 from Marquette University, and earned a Juris Doctor (J.D.) in law from Marquette University in 1949. Early in his career John was affiliated with Time, Inc., New York, NY, (1957-76) and became the head of a subsidiary of Time Inc., PDI, with plants on the East Coast and in Wisconsin. After settling in Connecticut for several years, John sought a better environment to raise his family, and he and Marilyn returned to Racine where they lived for the next 53 years. John became a frequent business flyer between the Midwest and Manhattan for a number of years. John was a member of the Wisconsin Bar and in the 1970s he practiced corporate, estate planning, contracts and real estate law in Racine, with the firm of Knuteson, Powers & Quinn SC. He retired in 2009.
John is a Licensed Professional Engineer (WI) and was a long-standing member of the Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Technical Association of the Graphic Arts. John served as president of the Village of Wind Point from 1962 to 1968. He also served on the board of directors of the Racine County Planning Council (1982-90) and many other company boards in WI. He was active as a board member of the Siena Center for many years. John was a long-standing member of Rotary International and became involved in many charitable activities associated with Rotary. He is a member of Pi Tau Sigma.
His pastimes included reading, golf, tennis, scuba diving, building Heathkit radios and stereos, cheering for the Packers and traveling with his wife and family to many ports of call around the world. John had a great love of aviation and achieved many advanced levels of pilot certification. He earned certification as a licensed Airline Transport Pilot. He owned an airplane for over 40 years. He often flew his wife and family on vacations to various parts of the country, and enjoyed flying his grandchildren to Oshkosh for the Experimental Aircraft Show, or just taking someone up and flying over Racine. He used his plane to help many to travel to hospitals and medical centers who were in need of special care.
More than anything he cherished his family. John and Marilyn met at Marquette and were married July 2, 1949, in Augusta, KS. Surviving family members include his loving wife of 61 years, Marilyn, and his four adult children: Susan (Tim) Derning of Sonoma, CA; Diane (Tom) Augustine of Milwaukee, WI; Karen Casanova of Delafield, WI; and John (Linda) Casanova of Fort Collins, CO. John took great delight in each of his grandchildren who deeply loved being with their “granddaddy”: Sean Derning, JT Casanova, Jennifer Casanova, Jessica Casanova, Caitlin Augustine and Daniel Augustine. Surviving brothers Robert (Ellen) Casanova of Waukesha, WI, William (Susan) Casanova of FL, James (Jean) Casanova, Elm Grove, WI; and sister, Claire (Ed) Brissette of King, WI. His sister, Betty Casanova, Milwaukee, WI, preceded him in death. He will be deeply missed by all.

Norman Lee Flenor
Norman Lee Flenor, 47, died October 2, 2010, at his home of natural causes. His final days were spent in the loving care of his friend and the love of his life, Glenda Jackson. Norman was born June 5, 1963, in Birmingham, Alabama, to James Lee and Clara B. Flenor. He moved to Racine at a young age.
Norman’s life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by him understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. He touched us all in some small way throughout his short, yet memorable life.
Norman is survived by, several Aunts and Uncles, friends and the love of his life, Glenda Jackson. He was preceded in death by his mother, Clara B. (Nee: Snow) Flenor; and his father, James Lee Flenor.

Diane Louise Cain
Mrs. Diane L. Cain, 49, went to sleep on October 1, 2010, awaiting the Lord’s return.
Diane was born in Oak Park, Illinois to Ronald and Elaine (nee: Eckman) Brown on March 4, 1961, and had lived in Racine for 21 years. She was united in marriage to Vincent R. Cain on August 21, 1980.
Diane was a strong Christian and a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church. She was a modest person who was well loved and respected. She had a creative and caring spirit. She loved animals and children loved her. Diane had a giving heart. She wrote many letters to her church family and friends. Her home was a showcase of flowers and she shared the bounty of her garden with her neighbors. She enjoyed cooking and baking. She was also an avid speed reader.
Diane is survived by her husband, Vincent; their daughter, Erica, her parents, Ronald and Elaine Brown; her maternal grandmother, Louise Eckman; her sister, Denise (David) Rivers; nieces, Tamara, Dyana, Laura, and Hannah; her husband’s parents, Iris Cain and Richard Heyde; two brothers-in-law, David and Vernon Cain; niece, Jennifer; one sister-in-law, Brenda Cain; nieces, Katy and Jenny (Jason); many other relatives and friends. Her beloved companions, Victor, Kirby and Jasmine. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Glen and Ronald, Jr.

George A. 'Butch' Clark Jr.
Sturtevant - George A. (Butch) Clark, 54, of Sturtevant, passed away on Oct. 1, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Born in Racine on June 16, 1956, to George and Cleo (Frazier), Mr. Clark was a lifelong resident of Racine and Sturtevant.

Sister Helene Marie Doll, O.P.
Sister Helene Marie Doll, O.P., 90, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints, Racine on Friday, October 1, 2010.
Helen Antoinette Doll was born February 7, 1920, to Alphonse and Helena (nee: Gillitzer) Doll in Wauzeka, WI. On September 5, 1937, she joined the Racine Dominicans and at her reception in 1938 she was given the religious name Sister Helene Marie. She professed her first vows in 1940 and her final vows in 1946.
Sister Helene Marie spent many years in service to others in teaching and pastoral ministry. She began teaching in 1939 at Holy Angels, Milwaukee, WI. Other places in Wisconsin where she served were St. Andrew, Knowles; St. Victor, Monroe; St. Louis, Caledonia; St. Aloysius, Sauk City; St. Mary, Janesville; St. Francis Xavier, Merrill; and St. Luke, Plain. She also served in Michigan, New Mexico, and Illinois. She moved to Siena Center in 2002. In November 2009 she became a resident of Lakeshore Manor.
Sister Helene Marie is survived by the Racine Dominican Sisters and Associates; her sister-in-law Jeanie Doll; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Phillip Doll; and her sister, Theresa (Joseph) Coleman.
Visitation will be in the Siena Center Chapel on Wednesday October 6, beginning at 9:30 a.m. with a Remembering Service at 2:30 p.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 4 p.m. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery Hwy 32. Memorials to the Racine Dominican Mission Fund have been suggested.
